April 1
001. Creepers (AKA: Troll 3; The Crawlers; Contamination .7; Fabrizio Laurenti credited as Martin Newlin; Joe D'Amato credited as David Hills, 1993) Low-rent eco-terror clearly derived its plot from the tree rape sequence in The Evil Dead. Feels more '83 than '93. D'Amato must have promised Laura Gemser her "gig" as costume designer in return for at least one Emmanuelle flick. Checklist Grade: C-
002. I Saw What You Did (Fred Walton, 1988) This was my April Fool's Day pick since it involves a telephone crank call gone terribly wrong. It also features not one but two Carradines! Shawnee Smith is very attractive in this MOW remake of the minor cult classic. Checklist Grade: C
003. Demolition University (Kevin S. Tenney, 1988) Had higher hopes for this one because I enjoyed Demolition High and director Tenney's Pinocchio's Revenge which I'd checked out for last year's horror challenge. Corey Haim fights like a girl (and with one) and what's up with his eyebrows? Checklist Grade: D+

004. Running Red (Jerry P. Jacobs, 1999) Four films and not an ounce of T&A. PM Entertainment still delivers on the action scenes, but Jeff Speakman was leaner and meaner as The Perfect Weapon. Checklist Grade: C
005. Brainsmasher...A Love Story (Albert Pyun, 1993) I like Dice Clay, but a PG-13 film is no place for him. Nor does the rating work well when you have Teri Hatcher as a perpetually-clothed stripper in hooker boots. Another bummer from Pyun but it does feature flying ninjas. Checklist Grade: C-
006. The Girl From Rio (AKA: Future Women; Rio 70; Die sieben Männer der Sumuru ; Jesús Franco credited as Jess Franco, 1969) Lusciously photographed nonsense under the guise of Eurospy from the ubiquitous Franco. Rest in Peace, man. I do prefer his later more horror-oriented stuff to this fluff. Hope for a better experience with my second half of a tribute double-bill Checklist MILD T&A Grade: D
007. The Peeping Tom and the Exhibitionist (AKA: El mirón y la exhibicionista; Jesús Franco and Lina Romay credited as Lulu Laverne, 1986) Some hardcore Jess Franco was the perfect nightcap. Lina Romay is older and chunkier, but still insatiable. Rest in Peace, too, sexy lady. Simple and stylish p*rn flick. Checklist X-TRA SPICY (XXX) T&A Grade: B-

08. Violated (Richard Cannistraro, 1984) This was the real deal and I feel like my B-Movie challenge has finally kicked off. A misogynistic joy ride through a cinema from an alternate reality called the 1980s. It had my attention from the Vestron Video logo. Features John Heard "before he was famous" if we're still keeping track of that kind of thing. Bonus: The amazing little brother/big sister scenes are worth watching it for...trust me. Checklist HOT T&A Grade: A-

April 4
09. Death Commando (AKA: The Boss; Il Boss; Killer vs Killers; Fernando Di Leo, 1973) Henry Silva is stoic wielding his "cannon" and he can sure blow up sh*t real good. Lots of goofy stuff leading up to a decently explosive climax, but I was underwhelmed by all the chatter. Checklist MILD T&A Grade: C-
10. Spring Breakers (Harmony Korine, 2012) When the creator of Gummo and Trash Humpers offers up teen idols popping their Disney-fied cherries and breaking bad as femme fatales who steal and kill for their american daydreams call it Where the Boys Are: Extreme Edition. It's also my checklist entry for juvenile delinquency, bitches. Checklist MILD T&A Grade: A
11. House of Whipcord (Pete Walker, 1974) These older British horror films are always so eerie and this one sprinkles a bit of sleaze into the mix. This unconventional WIP flick needed more whipping, though. But I'm jaded. Checklist MILD T&A Grade: C-

April 5
12. The Dungeonmaster (AKA: Ragewar; Various, 1984) This is kind of a makeshift anthology that apparently had its title changed to appeal to the D&D crowd of the era. It's a shame because I picked it based on my belief that I was getting a flick about a high school gamer who gets sucked into his role-playing fantasy. Not quite. There is a cool segment involving stop/motion animation called Stone Canyon Giant and another with decent effects by John Carl Buechler. Richard Moll is a guarantee that this will be bad eighties sci-fi even when he's pretty good. Checklist Grade: D

April 6
13. Preppies (Chuck Vincent, 1984) Silly sex quest romp by the late Chuck Vincent. Katt Shea (who would later go on to direct Stripped to Kill for Roger Corman) has a couple of hot scenes here, but spends too much of the film acting "preppy" which in this case means frumpy clothes, a posh accent, and a wig that makes her look 64. Checklist MILD T&A Grade: C
14. The Big Bet (Bert I. Gordon, 1985) Sylvia Kristel is again giving private lessons to a clueless teen male so that he can score with his class crush. Typically inept for the subgenre especially when it attempts to mimic Risky Business, but it delivers on the tropes. Checklist HOT T&A Grade: C+
15. Wet and Wild Summer! (Maurice Murphy, 1992) Wet behind the ears Ozploitation can't decide what the hell it wants to be. Whatever it is, it sucks. *Before they were famous - Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck's Christian Troy) Checklist MILD T&A Grade: D-
16. Angel Eyes (Gary Graver, 1993) My sweet sixteen flick had me in heaven. Penthouse Pet Monique Gabrielle is the kind of trash you don't want to throw out, but that will be your mistake...because she's trouble. This one is pure Skinemax and worth your time. Erik Estrada is on hand to add the cheese to this hot & spicy treat. Keeping him in mind for next year's safe list. Checklist X-TRA SPICY (XXX) T&A Grade: B

April 7
17. Die Watching (Charles Davis, 1993) Second Chris Atkins flick for my challenge. Here he's a troubled dude who makes solo p*rn tapes with willing strippers and peddles them to a sleazy local video clerk. Sex, lies, and videotape for snuff enthusiasts. Goofy and fun '90s trash with choice nudity and sleaze. HOT T&A Grade: B+
18. Evil Dead (Fede Alvarez, 2013) Another remake of a horror classic adds nothing new to the genre. It does have great atmosphere and recaptures a certain amount of visual flair from Raimi's original, but it's missing the fun characters and tongue-in-cheek tone. It's competent as a depressing and exhausting gorefest if that's what you're in the mood for. Grade: C-

April 8
19. Beach Party (William Asher, 1963) Rest in Peace Annette Funicello; you were the Selena Gomez of your era. This is a pretty lame beach comedy but you do get Funicello's fun bags and Eva Six's noted commodities: "Monroe's face, Mansfield's body and Zsa-Zsa's accent." Sadly, these weren't nudie-cuties and the ladies just tease through their tight sweaters and bouncing bikinis. Checklist Grade: C-
20. The Cycle Savages (Bill Brame, 1969) Bruce Dern steals the show as a despicable biker with a hate-on for females. He's a sleazy rider and no woman is safe. Only suggested nudity but there's a hot moment with a young blonde and a dripping ice cream cone that marks one of the sexiest scenes from my challenge so far. *Before they were famous - Casey Kasem plays Dern's pimp brother in a brief cameo. Checklist Grade: C+

April 9
21. Cannibal Ferox (Umberto Lenzi, 1981) Ferocious "video nasty" from Umberto Lenzi, a man who's fastly becoming one of my favorite Italian sleaze provocateurs. Not the faint of "art" or those who become squeamish at the sight of animal cruelty and real blood mixed with fake. The Amazon location shooting rivals its great influence, Cannibal Holocaust. Loved this sick masterwork. Checklist MILD T&A Grade: A
Special Short Film Marathon: Hitchhiking Cautionary Tales of the 1970s
22. A Film on Hitchhiking (Sanders-Rose-Swerdloff, 1974) Time capsule educational short on the dangers of hitchhiking. Thumbs down to hitchhikers and white boys with Afros. Grade: B-
22. Hitchhiking: The Road to Rape (Ronald Floethe, 1971) Another short on the dangers of hitchhiking features lots of cool slow-motion and demonstrates to young women why it's best to avoid strangers in pick-up trucks. Another gem for your classroom. Grade: B+
22. Under the Law: The Hitchhike (Philip Abbott, 1973) This hitchhiking "cautionary flick" features a cute blonde played by Robyn Millan (her next appearance would be in an MOW starring Bill Shatner). It takes a Rashom*on approach telling both the cute girl's side of the story and the creepy older dude's recollection of what probably didn't happen. Walt Disney Pictures elected to distribute this gem to impressionable young high schoolers and pervy teachers. What would you do? Grade: B+
22. Take an Easy Ride (Kenneth F. Rowles, 1976) Leave it to the Brits to release this tawdry "white-coater" that focuses on victims of hitchhiking terror and sexploitation. The young lasses are particularly fetching and the gloved rapist lends one segment a giallo vibe mixed with roughie (two subgenres I will explore more before this challenge ends). Nearly forty-minutes almost qualifies it as a stand-alone, but I'm counting it as part of a mini-marathon for today. Worth a pick-up! HOT T&A Grade: B+
23. Flash Frame (AKA: Mind Storm; The Corporation; Subliminal Seduction; Andrew Stevens, 1996) Remember when CD-Rom was all the rage? It's funny how the technology in most '90s films that were obsessed with the internet and computers has dated so severely. But that's just part of the charm. CD-Rom is about as dead as the erotic DTV thriller and Andrew Stevens career. This made me miss them all. MILD T&A Grade: C+
24. Caveman (Carl Gottlieb, 1981) I'm not a fan of The Beatles and I'm even less of one after seeing Ringo Starr in a lead role. The saving grace here is Barbara Bach shaking her ass as a Raquel Welch inspired cavegirl. Hard to believe that the man who wrote the Jaws screenplay was responsible for this disaster. Checklist Grade: D-

April 10
25. Navajo Joe (Sergio Corbucci, 1966) Pretty sure horses were injured during the making of this one. Some action-packed scenes and a young and tough Burt Reynolds in a decent spaghetti western. Checklist Grade: B-
26. Steele Justice (Robert Boris, 1987) Solid vigilante actioner. Highlight is an appearance by Astrid Plane (Animotion). I've always found her trashy '80s look hot. She once pointed at me during a concert and I was smitten. Anyway, her music video within-the-film is interrupted by a crazy shoot-out. Martin Kove throws himself threw a window in order save himself. Just see the flick. It's pretty fun. Checklist Grade: B+
27. The Babysitter (Don Henderson, 1969) Genuinely titillating and funny exploitation film that really attacks moral standards in the name of entertainment. Well-acted, particularly by George Carey as the much older man who wants a taste of Candy. HOT T&A Grade: A

April 11
28. A Climax of Blue Power (AKA: A Taste of Blue Power; Deviant in Blue; The Impersonator; The Passion of Blue Power; Lee Frost credited as F.C. Perl, 1976) Psychologically-charged "roughie" about a disturbed man impersonating a police officer in order to act upon his darkest sexual obsessions. There's a cool scene where he reveals a Super 8 projector by his bedside that he uses to screen hardcore loops at bedtime. Gritty and authentic at its best it suffers occasionally from monotonous and dreary hardcore sex scenes. Checklist X-TRA SPICY (XXX) T&A Grade: B
29. Sexting in Suburbia (AKA: Shattered Silence; John Stimpson, 2012) I'm a closeted fan of the Lifetime movies. Such a heady mix of hyperbolic melodrama and exploitation. Since the networks stopped doing Amy Fisher tabloid of the week movies years ago, I'm glad we have this channel to keep the ball rolling. This one had pretty great acting and a young girl's life being destroyed by a viral video is back in the headlines in my neck of the woods, so I felt this was a relevant night to watch this. Checklist Grade: B+
30. Night Terrors (Tobe Hooper, 1995) One of the Tobe Hooper/Robert Englund efforts which I tend to enjoy more than most. Englund plays the Marquis de Sade in this incredibly whacked production that makes little sense but still entertains. Who really directed Poltergeist anyway? HOT T&A Grade: B-

31. Run If You Can (AKA: Run... If You Can!; V. Lively Stone, 1987) Cool concept is muddled by poor execution. Still there's lots of creepy stuff involving snuff footage. Martin Landau is in paycheck mode as a cop in pursuit of the "ladykiller". MILD T&A Grade: C-

April 13
32. Graffiti Bridge (Prince, 1990) I finally got around to this one. Prince was still hot at Warner Bros. because of the Batman movie songs and this feels like it was made on the backstages of Gotham City. It's a wet blanket "sequel" to Purple Rain. Down the drain. Checklist Grade: D+
Special Film Marathon: A Night of Emmanuelles
33. Goodbye Emmanuelle (AKA: Emmanuelle 3; François Leterrier, 1977) This is well photographed but it's like watching Eric Rohmer do an Emmanuelle film. Actually, Rohmer's would likely be sexier and more satisfying. Time for some new blood in the series Checklist HOT T&A Grade: C-
34. Black Emanuelle (AKA: Emanuelle nera; Bitto Albertini credited as Albert Thomas, 1975) Laura Gemser heats up my Emanuelle evening. This one is a bit tamer than some of her later appearances where sleaze was laid on more heavily. Gemser is not wasted and we see her in many compromising situations and ubiquitously naked. Checklist X-TRA SPICY (X) T&A Grade: B

Special Film Marathon: A Night of Emmanuelles - continued
35. Emmanuelle 6 (Bruno Zincone, 1988) Strange attempt at doing a more surrealist Emmanuelle story (Jean Rollin is a credited screenwriter). German Playmate Natalie Uher is hot but never fully convinced that she's the real Emmanuelle and neither are we. The uncut composite version included hardcore inserts but Uher's scenes remained softcore. X-TRA SPICY (XXX) T&A Grade: C
36. Emanuelle's Revenge (AKA: Emanuelle e Françoise le sorelline; Blood Vengeance; Demon Rage; Joe D'Amato, 1975) Sordid sleaze of the highest order. I knew when I saw both Bruno Mattei and Joe D'Amato's names that this would deliver. Damn cool revenge plot with Rosemarie Lindt as a sexy and vicious MILF interpretation of the title character. X-TRA SPICY (X) T&A Grade: A
37. Emmanuelle 4 (AKA: Emmanuelle IV; Francis Leroi-Iris Letans, 1984) Back to the original series. This one tries to justify the transformation of Sylvia Kristel to Mya Nygren as a plastic surgery miracle. The film is ridiculous but not without some scorching softcore making it an improvement over the tedious part III. Checklist X-TRA SPICY T&A Grade: B-
38. Sister Emanuelle (AKA: Suor Emanuelle; Giuseppe Vari, 1977) It's Emanuelle "nunsploitation" with Laura Gemser back...in the habit. The film is really cool and more arthouse and sexy than Black Swan. Checklist X-TRA SPICY (X) T&A Grade: A-
39. Emmanuelle 2000: Emmanuelle Pie (AKA: Pretty Cool; Rolfe Kanefsky, 2003) Since reading The Pleasuring of Rory Malone and seeing Zapped! as a young man, I have yearned for special powers and/or gadgets that would make women do my bidding. Kanefsky has experience in this comic subgenre. This is a strange re-cut of an earlier film with Emmanuelle added into the mix. Well, if you're going to add another exploitative element, make it Emmanuelle. X-TRA SPICY T&A Grade: B+

40. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (Nicholas Webster, 1964) Cinematic Titanic As hilariously bad as they come. My first experience with Cinematic Titanic. They were sporadically funny but this kind of film is just too easy to riff on. Checklist Grade: D
41. Born to Race (James Fargo, 1988) James Fargo has directed some great action pictures. This rusty "carsploitation" isn't among them. I need to go back to the grease pit to end this day with something more fun. Checklist Grade: D-

42. Even Hitler Had a Girlfriend (Ronnie Cramer, 1992) A microbudgeted gem of a black comedy. Lonely security guard Marcus Templeton worries that his life is devolving into something sinister and tragic while spending all his income on prostitutes. Some brilliant characterization by actor Andren Scott who was apparently shot and killed while working at a 7-11 in 1994. Joe Bob Briggs championed this film and named it "Best Drive-In feature of 1992". One of the highlights of this challenge for me thus far. HOT T&A Grade: A-
43. The Ninja Strikes Back (AKA: Xiong zhong; Bruce Le-Joseph Velasco, 1982) I wasn't really aware of these "Clones of Bruce Lee" prior to this challenge. This Bruce Le is pretty damn cool and the film has some decent action and nudity. Odd Job from Goldfinger appears with familiar tricks, a deadly gold hand, and an unlicenced Bond music theme. Checklist MILD T&A Grade: B
44. Drive-In Madness! (Tim Ferrante, 1987) Really fun 1980s documentary on the fading drive-in movie culture. Makes me happy that I still live in an area with an active drive-in theatre, but I miss the days of being able to attend them during snowstorms which is mentioned here. Lots of great vintage ads and promos and perfect for this challenge. Man, Romero looked young in this. Checklist Grade: B+

Special Tribute: Harry Reems RIP Triple Bill
45. Demented (Arthur Jeffreys, 1980) Harry Reems apparently felt it necessary to use the alias Bruce Gilchrist for this effective piece of rape/revenge trash. Sallee Elyse may have the finest breasts of my challenge so far. Wish my copy was a bit better in order to fully appreciate them. MILD T&A Grade: A-
46. The Cleanup Squad (AKA: Hot Dogs; Hot Dog Cops; Cops and Other Lovers; Under the Cover Cops; Les chiens chauds; Claude Fournier , 1980) Had no idea that Reems did some canuxploitation. Here he does a good job in a comic turn where we can see why he was originally cast as Coach Calhoun in Grease. Another Police Academy wannabe. It delivers a steady stream of bad jokes and boobs. Lots of boobs. HOT T&A Grade: C
47. Sex Wish (AKA: Love Wish; Victor Milt credited as Tim McCoy, 1976) Unpleasant roughie that casts Harry Reems as a respectable guy whose female companions are murdered by "The Night Stalker". Pretty shoddy production all around, but I was looking for something more tastelessly notorious with Reems and I found it. Checklist X-TRA SPICY (XXX) T&A Grade: D

48. Dirty O'Neil (AKA: The Love Life of a Cop; Leon Capetanos-Lewis Teague, 1974) This is kind of like the ultra-lite version of Bad Lieutenant. I guess minus the drugs, gambling etc. It's another shade of Electra Glide in Blue for Drive-In crowd. Entertaining and packs a lot of sexy seventies chicks in various states of undress. HOT T&A Grade: B+

49. Lake Placid 4 (AKA: Lake Placid: The Final Chapter; Don Michael Paul, 2012) Why do I bother with this series anymore? It can't even do bad well. It is from the director of Who's Your Caddy?, which I've actually watched for an earlier challenge. MILD T&A Grade: D+

50. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (Kevin Smith, 2001) Amazing how dated some of the jokes are and how out of touch the View Askewaverse has become, but I dig Morris Day and the Motherf*ckin' Time in small doses (even after Grafitti Bridge). Checklist Grade: B-

51. Pain & Gain (Michael Bay, 2013) Bay-balled. Full bodied Bay. Breaking Bay. Definitely a get -off-your-ass-to-see kind of entertainment. Watching the best laid plans of Dirk Diggler and The Rock come undone in a steroid-fueled riff on early Coen Bros. is delightful, irreverent, and unprecedented. I only wish DePalma's attempts at comedy had worked this well. A witty scenario is pumped up and juiced out by Bay's flair for crisp and colorful setups, spectacular editing, and that Bad Boy passive/ transqressive approach that detractors hate so much. The "summer" flick I was waiting for and it's already over. Wild Card #1 Grade: A-

April 26
52. The Lords of Salem (Rob Zombie, 2013) I don't want to watch anything shot on a RED Cam or digitally for awhile. Great sets and locations completely marred by what looks like bad camcorder footage. I liked some of the visual concepts but any potential Zombie had for this to resemble a European film from the '70s is lost. Shooting primarily at night reveals the shocking limitations of his cameras and format. Hire a recognized p*rn DP or someone accustomed to dealing with this, and maybe, but I couldn't get past it. As for the overall film, it's Zombie's worst. I did find some early scenes effective and Bruce Davison is good in a supporting role. It's kind of like The Mother of Tears...but worse. MILD T&A Grade: C-
53. Movie 43 (Various, 2013) Enjoyable as a late night f*ck you to my sensibilities. I didn't know it had multiple directors (some oddball ones like Griffin Dunne and James Gunn). Basically it's Scary Movie or Epic Movie with bigger name talent and formatted a bit more like Kentucky Fried Movie. It's like Uwe Boll's Postal in its need to be relentlessly juvenile and offensive and in our tight-assed times I found that refreshing enough. Some of it is painfully unfunny but occasionally it reminded me of the superior Burning Palms in its effort to turn bad taste into short subjects. I also didn't expect Naomi Watts, Richard Gere and Kate Winslet to appear as comfortable here as Johnny Knoxville and Sean William Scott. I read that the wraparound story was supposed to star Greg Kinnear, Seth MacFarlane and Dennis Quaid. If that's floating around I'd be curious to see what was judiciously excised from this. Checklist Grade: B

54. Supervixens (Russ Meyer, 1975) Russ Meyer back on the big screen. Second time I've seen this one projected. Charles Napier and the bathroom murder remain the highlight of this sexy flick (and those vixens, of course). Checklist HOT T&A Grade: B+
55. Maniac (Franck Khalfoun, 2013) Another failed remake. I really didn't like the point-of-view approach. It made it feel like another found footage film or a sequence cut from V/H/S. Needless remake. MILD T&A Grade: D

56. Just One of the Girls (AKA: Anything for Love; Michael Keusch, 1993) Corey Haim was a real drag in drag. At least PCH doesn't stand for Politically Correct High. Decent group girl's shower scene is the only saving grace here. MILD T&A Grade: D-

57. Ice Cream Man (Paul Norman, 1995) Slyly entertaining but wholly ridiculous horror flick with Clint Howard. It's soft serve in terms of scares, but the camp factor is the cherry on top. Checklist Grade: C+

1. Killjoy Goes to Hell* (2012) ★★★
The "Old Hag" summons Killjoy to put him on trial for his incompetence as a villain. What Killjoy should be on trial for is that first movie. Really. Anyway, he's sent to Hell to face Jezabeth, the hot D.A. (Devil's Advocate, that is). Killjoy's attorney Skid Mark (Killjoy's biggest fan) sacrifices some flesh in order to conjure old pals and demon witnesses Punchy the clown (who talks like a scatting Snoop Dogg), Freakshow the mime (who can't speak at all), and Batty Boop, his girl (who just proves what a nice guy Killjoy really is). The gang hatch a scheme to bring back Sandie, the virgin from the 3rd movie who survived, and witnessed the horror that Killjoy brought into her life. She has a case of the giggles, or at least that silly disorder that they advertise on TV (It's not funny, ok?!). Killjoy Goes to Hell was effective in creating its own unique world, and gave me a few good laughs.

2. Bordello of Blood (1996) ★★★
The midget from Sabrina, The Teenage Witch is a treasure hunter, tracking down a secret tomb that houses the mother of all vampires. Kind of like a tiny Indiana Jones, spiders and all. He reconnects her quartered heart, and brings her back to life in order to start a brothel full of vampires. Enter Dennis Miller, playing a smarmy, wise-cracking smartass. Wait, isn't that what he normally is? I guess maybe a little less effective one here, with someone else writing his lines. Dennis Miller is Rafe, a detective (not on the level, as it turns out), tracking down Caleb (Corey Feldman), who was last seen at Lilith's (Angie Everhart, cast strictly on looks) brothel. Bad acting all around. But... ultimately a satisfying amount of tit* and gore, so I like it!

3. Hellraiser: Deader* (2005) ★★
A Stan Winston production?! Should I expect some cool, elaborate creatures? Nope. Just Pinhead and a couple Cenobites. And, just barely. Kari Wuhrer, probably best known for her work on MTV's Remote Control (although I've never seen Sliders -- I remember her most from her stellar appearance on Conan in the '90s) does an admirable job in an awful movie as Amy, a journalist for an underground London newspaper. She gets sent to Romania on a story to track down a cult leader who can apparently bring the dead back to life by making out with them. This story was originally written as a stand-alone movie, and was altered to become part of the Hellraiser universe. It shows. Er, let's just say it's a colossal bore. Besides one minor flourish when Amy opens the box, Pinhead doesn't bring the pain until the 1:18 mark (The movie is 1:28). Too little, too late, jagoffs. I would consider this to be amongst the worst Hellraiser movies, along with Hellworld and Revelations. So, the last 3 installments don't work. Time to pack it in.

4. The Road Killers* (1994) ★★
Young Richie is nearly killed 5 minutes in by Redneck Bon Jovi's (Cliff's) El Dorado. Later, at the diner ahead, Ashley flirts with Cliff, not knowing what a psycho he really is. Richie's father Glen confronts Cliff, who throws a chicken in his car window. Then, quite poetically (NOT), they play chicken. Glen is killed in the ensuing car wreck. Cliff's gang of flunkies includes a young David Arquette, playing the borderline-retarded Bobby. Cliff provides a few sarcastic tender moments. Hoo boy. This one runs out of gas fairly early on.

5. Leprechaun (1993) ★★★★
Danny O'Grady stole the Leprechaun's gold. He's able to trap him inside a box in his basem*nt with a 4-leaf clover. Ten years later, J.D. and his daughter Tory (Jennifer Aniston) arrive for a summer vacation. North Dakota is not her speed. Spoiled Tory gives her father some back sass. She has the hots for the painter at the house, Nathan. Yes, Nathan, of the "3 Guys That Paint," Nathan. That would include dim Ozzie, and little (not Leprechaun little) friend Alex. Ozzie f*cks up and lets the Leprechaun loose. Ozzie spots a rainbow, and follows it for a bag of gold. He then swallows a coin, that knucklehead. The Leprechaun needs that coin. Only, he has this OCD problem with shining shoes. Despite this, he makes a sucker out of everyone. I was a little distracted with Jennifer Aniston's shapely be-hind. One could bounce a quarter off that sweet caboose. Anyway, the movie is silly and fun. Whoo-hoo!

6. Leprechaun 2* (1994) ★★★
Apparently the Leprechaun broke the curse in the well from the first movie. He's miraculously back in Ireland here, on his 1000th birthday, on which he can claim his bride. Hold on, didn't he say he was 600 in the first movie? It's olden times here (?!) and he has found his bride. Only it turns out that she is his slave's sister. All she has to do is sneeze 3 times without someone saying "God bless you.". WTF? Said slave saves her, and the Leprechaun has to wait another 1000 years.
Cut to the present day, which really throws the universe out of whack. Cody runs a ghoulish Hollywood tour, visiting death sites of the rich and famous. Ian works at the go kart track and is really into Cody's girl, Bridget. Turns out Bridget is a descendant of the original bride-to-be. Ian gives Bridget a ride home, only the Leprechaun is one step ahead of him. Ian goes to fondle Bridget's obvious stunt boobs, and face plants into a lawn mower. Pretty funny stuff. Cody has to evade the police, who think he's killed Ian, and in the meantime rescue Bridget from the Leprechaun. Uh, I miss the shoe-shining disorder.

7. Leprechaun 3* (1995) ★★★
The Leprechaun is back again from certain death to wreak havok on Las Vegas. A frantic, injured man brings a frozen Leprechaun into a pawn shop and insists that the shopkeeper not touch the medallion hanging around its neck. What's the very first thing he does? Tammy, all waist and hips, brings Scott into the casino where she works as a magician's assistant, for him to just look around. Yeah, right. Scott can't resist gambling - I call him Gamblor! - and cashes the $23,000 check his parents gave him for college. He runs across the street to the pawn shop to sell his watch for more gambling money, only to find a dead shopkeeper, along with a gold shilling belonging to the Leprechaun. Ah, the old one-short. The OCD Leprechaun has exactly 100 shillings to keep track of. New rules: The owner of a shilling gets a wish. Also, if all the coins are destroyed, so is the Leprechaun. The coin finds its way to Fazio, the gay disco magician, who has a Dennis DeYoung vibe. That's bad. Scott gets bit by the Leprechaun, and is infected like a zombie. He's suddenly really into potatoes and rhyming. This is easily the silliest of the first three Leprechaun movies, and that's saying a lot.

8. Evil Dead* (2013) ★★★
"Remake of classic B-movie(s)"
This might be the most violent R-rated movie I've seen. I expect this from unrated sh*t, but not such a graphic R. Either the MPAA has loosened up a bit (fat chance), or Sam Raimi is in a position where he can pull some strings. I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a big fan of modern horror remakes, even ones with the original producers in place. They always, without exception, lack the spirit of the original. I expected this to be cool, fun, and clever. None of the above, despite all the hype. It was grim and grimy, which seems to be the template for horror remakes today. I did like how the movie wouldn't end, it just kept getting pushed further and further, and that most everything in the book came to fruition, including raining blood and rising from the grave. Actually, all of the homages to the original were good, too. I think that this movie warranted a remake, just not this one.

9. Leprechaun 4: In Space* (1997) ★★★
I was excited at just the prospect of the Leprechaun in space. They had me sold with the title. But I think this one actually gave me brain damage. Try to imagine an even campier Leprechaun. Sgt. Hooker (apparently they couldn't get Henry Rollins to put on a metal wig) is leading a troop on a search and destroy mission against a meddlesome alien. Who could that be? Who the f*ck do you think it is? Actually, I had no idea it would be the Leprechaun. Seems like kind of a random plot point. They go into some space caves on Planet Ithacan to destroy the "alien." The mission seems to be a success when the Leprechaun hops on a grenade to protect his beloved (and greedy) princess. One of the soldiers, let's call him Bill Paxton, takes a leak on one of the remaining bits, and develops some sort of space gonorrhea. Cut to the ship mixer, where he's getting it on with Delores, the crew tramp. Here's something I don't see often in movies: Boner-related death. "Dr. Mittenhand" survived someone's idea of a joke, and suffers a most disturbing fate. This character has to be seen to be believed. The Leprechaun manages to wreak havoc on the ship, and survive long enough for two more sequels.

10. Last of the Living* (2009) ★★
Three flatmates in New Zealand are coping with the zombie apocalypse. Morgan, Ash, and Johnny decide to go to the store. Yep, that's about as exciting as it gets. This movie aspires to be a low rent Shaun of the Dead. Much of the movie plays out like a music video, with interstitial dialogue. It does have its own heavily promoted theme song. I suppose that's a good thing. Well, except the song sucks. Literally all of the enjoyment I got out of Last of the Living is the scene where Morgan farts. That's pretty sad.

11. Demon Knight (1995) ★★★★
A mysterious stranger (Billy Zane) is after another mysterious stranger (William Sadler). A relic in the form of a key (as seen in Bordello of Blood?!) is sought after by The Collector (Zane) and his conjured demons to complete the set of seven. Brayker (Sadler) and cast are holed up in a seedy hotel. Demon-fueld mayhem ensues. Tales From the Crypt delivers again! tit* and gore abound. Great ensemble cast.

12. Leprechaun in the Hood* (2000) ★★★
Ice T is Mack Daddy, who shows up in an old subway station with a giant afro and full pimp getup, to steal the Leprechaun's magic flute. His buddy Slug unwittingly removes the medallion from the Leprechaun's neck and sets him free. Said buddy gets an afro pick in the neck for his troubles. Mack Daddy pulls a knife and bat from his 'fro to take on the Leprechaun. It's nice to see that Ice T has a good sense of humor. What other gangsta rapper would sign up for "Leprechaun in the Hood?" Life is rough for rappers Postmaster P (the grand prince of mail?), Stray Bullet, and Butch, trying to make it in the business by sending a positive message. That all turns sour when they blow (literally, with Butch's science experiment) an audition for a rap contest in Las Vegas. Mack Daddy, now a hip hop mogul thanks to the flute, keeps the frozen Leprechaun in a glass case in the middle of his office. PP, SB, and B give him a cassette. He tells them they need to be more gangsta to get on his label. The gang decide they are going to break into his office and steal his loot. So much for the positive message. The Leprechaun kind of takes a backseat to these three idiots rapping. Which is too bad.

13. Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood* (2003) ★★
Ah, Leprechaun. Where would we be without ye? Well, we'd be better off without this sequel of a sequel. Apparently the "hood" premise was successful enough to warrant another one. The animated intro is promising, although it looks like it didn't make it past the animatics stage. I could probably find out what happened if I could be bothered to listen to an audio commentary (this movie, unbelievably, has two). It presents an interesting backstory to the Leprechaun myth that doesn't exist in any of the other films. Whatever character development gained here is squandered to nothingness with the remaining cast. Jamie is crazy nutzo over Lisa. I couldn't figure out why Lisa, Emily, and Rory hang around with this genius. And I never thought I'd miss those three no-talent ass-clowns from the last movie. The Leprechaun did have the decency to disrupt the mushy love story between Rory and Emily. But that was only temporary. Anyway, the Leprechaun wants his freaking gold!

14. Bloodlock* (2008) ★
Barry and Christine move into a new house with Christine's sister, Lisa, until she gets back on her feet. Want more character development? Well, there isn't really any. Except that Barry is a flaming a-hole. He's cheating on his wife with flirtatious Lisa, and has no problem wasting his neighbors, who walk into his house to try and open the locked door in their basem*nt. Did I mention The Door? The one with the titanium "Bloodlock?!" The previous tenant locked a vampire inside and sealed it so that no one could ever let it loose. Neighbors Foster and Edwina are after immortality that the vampire can apparently provide. I'm not sure he wouldn't just rip their heads off, like he does Barry's. What makes them think they can trust this creature? Later in the movie, they attempt to present Christine as a kick-ass vampire hunter. This does not work at all. She chugs garlic and holy water, which, laughably, comes in handy late in the flick. Foster survived and joins the vampire hunting squad with Christine and Luke the locksmith. Oh yeah, Foster survived?! His arm is in a sling. They repeatedly refer to Foster's damaged arm as a "busted wing." He got shot in the gut, I'm not exactly sure what happened to his "wing." They all cruise around in her 1992 Chrysler minivan. Not exactly the Mystery Machine. The ending was a real groaner. Maybe even an eye-roller.

15. Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep* (2006) ★★
Thrilling underwater action! I'm being sarcastic. Ray lost his parents to Tentacles of the Deep (or TotD™) when he was a child. Years later, Ray, now an underwater photographer, joins up with Nicole, a treasure hunter. Jenny helps provide bikini/boob action with Nicole. Ok, something in this film worth watching. I suppose Ray wants to avenge his parent's death, but it's not as if he takes any real precautions to take down the giant squid. Nicole is after a large, almost mythical opal which the squid protects. Also after it is Maxwell and his thugs, dressed in black, driving a black car, backed by ominous music. So they must be evil. The movie has a cream puff mash note of an ending, followed by the prospect of a sequel. God, no.

17. Head of the Family* (1996) ★★★★
Lance spots some strange goings on at the Stackpoole house. They are tricking travellers into driving to their home, then conducting experiments on them. Myron, the "head of the family," quite literally, needs an able human body to support his brain. He and his family are quadruplets, only instead of being identical, they all have their own supernatural abilities. Myron is the brains, Otis is the strenth, Wheeler is the eyes, ears, and nose, and Ernestina is the, uh, boobs. Myron's siblings are all linked telepathically to him. Lance hatches a blackmail scheme against the Stackpooles in exchange for making Howard disappear. Howard is a colossal dick. He's a gangster, drug dealer, and a murderer, and Lance wants his girl Loretta, who is quite naked throughout the film. No complaints here. He knows the Stackpooles have "cabbage" to spare, so he also wants $2000 a week in exchange for his silence. Myron and his family use their powers to get the juicy tidbits on Lance. Ernestina uses her body to seduce him. It is quite disturbing knowing that Myron is really in charge. And Lance knows this. I've gotta say that The Head (J.W. Perra) is quite delicious and sinister as the villain.

18. Night of the Living Dead (1990) ★★★★★
Barbara (Patricia Tallman) and Johnnie (Bill Moseley) travel to the middle of nowhere to pay respects to her mother. Johnnie is attacked and killed by a zombie. Barbara flees to a remote farmhouse nearby, where she meets up with Ben (a pre-Candyman Tony Todd). Hollywood should definitely take note of this remake, and how to effectively make one. NotLD (1990) surprisingly doesn't go for a lot of gore. It's discussed in the featurette that the MPAA forced them to remove a lot of more graphic scenes. Frankly, I think they did director Tom Savini and screenwriter George A. Romero a favor, which I normally would never say. The focus is more on character development than splatter effects. And it works. Savini proves himself adept at creating genuine tension. I was a little disappointed to learn that this remake was primarily made so that people involved with the original could make some money off of the name. There were some legal issues with the original 1968 NotLD. But it works, and that's all that matters. I think this ranks among Romero's best.

19. The Greenskeeper* (2002) ★★
Music score by Kip Winger?! So that's what he was up to in 2002. Not that I was wondering. Allen is the assistant greenskeeper -- The greenskeeper, Otis, is barely in the movie. Allen wants to be a screenwriter, and it's his 25th birthday. Whoop-dee-sh*t. Otis gives Allen a ladies bike for his birthday. Not sure what he's trying to say. Allen's at odds with Chet, Chazz, and Champ, the local dickhe*ds. Elena says Allen is "weeped" by his girlfriend. Translation: Whipped. Allen is into the girl with the dopey accent. This movie is as much a sausage-fest as it is boobs & bikinis. And I could care less about the killer and his beekeeper outfit. Incredibly bad, Scooby Doo-esque ending.

From Al Septien and Turi Meyer, the folks who brought you such blockbusters as Leprechaun 2 and Chairman of the Board (yes, the one with Carrot Top). After a thoroughly pointless intro, Candyman 3 gives a crash course in the history of Daniel Robitaille (otherwise known as Candyman). We're introduced to Caroline (Donna D'Errico, from Baywatch), Daniel's great great granddaughter, trying her best to not look like a deer caught in the headlights (she is not successful). A stranger gives her some candy. Quite literally sweets to the sweet. Maybe they thought that was clever? Caroline's friend Miguel is putting on a showing of Candyman's artwork. There's a slightly altered re-telling of the origin, perhaps from Miguel's understanding. Or maybe they were just lazy. Caroline then gets peer pressured into saying his name five times into the mirror in front of the art gallery crowd. Did I mention she seems to forget her bra on every occasion? This is perhaps why Candyman wants to get it on with a relative. Look at me, trying to make sense of this. Later, the paintings are stolen and Miguel is killed. The bumbling detectives ("bad cop/bad cop") are on Caroline's case, thinking she's the Candyman. Where have I heard this before? Trying to interfere is the son of the 4th Ghostbuster, Ernie Hudson, Jr. Because they couldn't get the 4th Ghostbuster. Incredibly, Candyman suffers the same fate as the Leprechaun in Leprechaun 2. Hel-lo?! Classic Septien/Meyer!

Dr. Carl Hill (David Gale) is doing brain research at the Miskatonic Medical School in Massachusetts. Dr. Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) is back from a stint in Zurich with the infamous Dr. Hans Gruber (Al Berry), stating that there was nothing more he could learn there (Gruber dies, West revives him to eye-exploding effect). West feels Hill has stolen his ideas from Gruber. Dan Cain (Bruce Abbott) is a student dating the Dean's daughter, Megan (Barbara Crampton). West answers Cain's ad for a roommate. He keeps to himself behind a closed door, and conducts experiments in the basem*nt. West is researching "death," with his glowing green solution. He is quite serious, straight-laced and determined, to the point of psychotic. With his reagent, re-animation is possible. He tries it out on Dan's (mysteriously) deceased cat. The cat freaks. It seems the bigger the animal, the more violent the reaction. You can imagine what it does to humans. The dark humor in Re-Animator is quite delightful. And it's not to the point where it detracts from the horror. This movie is outrageous, completely demented, and gloriously gory! Richard Band deserves a special shout out for his awesome orchestral score! Aww yeah!

25. Amityville II: The Possession* (1982) ★★
This prequel follows the thoroughly dysfunctional Montelli family at their new home in Amityville, New York. The flaming a-hole dad is played by Burt Young, a familiar face when you need a tough guy. He's probably most famous for his role in the Rocky movies, but I remember him best as Rodney Dangerfield's limo driving thug in Back to School. Siblings Sonny (Jack Magner) and Patricia (Diane Franklin) have a very strange flirty and incestuous relationship, even prior to Sonny's possession. Sonny listens to free-form jazz/post-punk on his walkman, amongst his satanic orders. It is quite evident early on that the place is haunted. The haunting itself is so over the top, it borders on parody. No subtlety here. The demon is quite the artist, too, painting an elaborate message for the little kids. Patricia reaches out to the family priest, who would rather go on a hiking trip than answer his phone in a time of need. This movie was on Rue Morgue's list of "200 Alternative Horror Films You Need to See," and I'm hard pressed to see why. It was supposedly influential to the J-Horror craze, which was, in a word, lame.

1 - Showdown In Little Tokyo (1991) - watched to commemorate the death of Brandon Lee 20 years ago today. The film is a lot of fun and Lee and Dolph Lundgren have good buddy movie chemistry (DVD).
2 - If Footmen Tire You Out What Will Horses Do? (1971)* - Wow, is all I can say about this. Entertaining as Hell, so much stand out stuff that I don't want to spoil in the religious exploitation about what would happen if Commies taking over America and would happen to the Christians. Only comes in about an hour as well. It's Easter Sunday as well (Youtube)
3- The Streetfighter (1974) - Tsurugi (Sonny Chiba) is not an anti-hero, he's a bit of a dick, I'm a big Sonny Chiba fan and love the fighting, the action even the colour of the blood, one of my favourites of his. Watched in original language (DVD).

4 - Return Of The Street Fighter (1974)* - While it's not as good as the first movie it's still enjoyable. I think it's middle section is not as exciting as it could have been but picks right up for the end. Watched in original language (DVD).
5 - Street Fighter's Last Revenge (1974)* - This is my least favourite of the three, though I still enjoyed it. The film must have took some inspiration from spy movies somewhere. One of the villainous characters Mr. Black dresses like he is one of the Three Amigos and he also doesn't live up to the hype of his introduction.Watched in original language (DVD).
6 - Swamp Women (1956)* - One of Roger Corman's earliest directorial efforts, even though it was in the Mill Creek Horror box-set and IMDB list it as horror but maybe I was missing something but it wasn't a horror, it took a while to get going but I ended up enjoying it. Jonathan Haze, whose birthday it is today as a small but fun role towards the beginning (DVD).
7 - Our Man In Jamaica (1965)* - while there wasn't much action that made me go wow I did enjoy spending time with these characters, was good enough to want me to check out more Eurospy movies (Youtube).
8 - One Eyed Monster (2008)* - great fun about Ron Jeremy's member coming to life thanks to an alien life form (this isn't a p*rn film), he and Veronica Hart play themselves and delivers likable performances. Amber Benson from Buffy is also in it as is Charles Napier who was a fun role and speech recounting his Vietnam experience. Was a direct to DVD feature (DVD).

April 02

9 - Chrome and Hot Leather (1971)* - not bad biker movie but I've seen a lot better, notable for one of only two movies Marvin Gaye acted in (the other a TV movie) - decent performance from him. It would have been Marvin Gaye's birthday (DVD).
10 - Maniac (1934)* - Was glad it was only as long as it was a longer film I imagine would have started to bore me. I liked the awkward performances in this movie. A different Phyllis Diller appears in this movie to the more famous one (DVD).
11 - Spooks Run Wild (1941)* - Was okay was best when Bela Lugosi and his small assistant was on screen, some of the East Side Kids (first movie I've ever seen of theirs) comedy was funny over times not so much, so the twist coming very early on (DVD).
12 - Women In Cellblock 9 (1977)* - I decided to watch this since Jess Franco passed away today and also was planning on watching a prison film (two birds, one stone) and I didn't read up too much about it before watching it, but have since found it's still banned outright in my country (the U.K.). A prison film where the women are either naked or tortured (plenty of times both at the same time), not titillating. Downbeat ending as well (online).
13 - The Inspector Wears Skirts (Top Squad) (1988) - This is basically the Hong Kong version of Police Academy but with ladies, even sort of following that pattern for the bulk of the movie with training then sudden bad guys in the last reel. I think it's more nostalgic for me this more then anything. Watched this part of a double bill at my brothers of Cynthia Rothrock (who is pretty much an extended cameo). Watched in original language (DVD).
14 - Above The Law (Righting Wrongs) (1986) - The second of the Cynthia Rothrock double bill, I watched this a lot as a kid in the dubbed form. To me this is her best film with brilliant action and a decent storyline and a great lead from Yuen Biao, two things that stand out in Rothrock's opening mahjong scene - firstly Rothrock's cream panties and secondly Biao doubling for her in a couple of instants really funny image when paused. Watched in original language (DVD)

April 03

15 - A Blade In The Dark (1983) * - I liked it but I have enjoyed most Italian horror stuff I've seen lately so maybe I'm the mood for it. Some of the set pieces where nice but my only criticism is some editing for pacing could have been done here and there. Today is the birthday of the film's director Lamberto Bava (online).
16 - The Amazing Transparent Man (1960)* - quality wise The Invisible Man it isn't. Pretty slow moving for the most part but picked up towards the climax (DVD).
17 - Heart Of America (2002)* - Uwe Boll doing a film about a fictional school shooting (similar to Columbine) sounds like it could have been really offensive but despite some wobbly acting and characterizations it's actually an alright film. This is probably the best film I've seen of Boll's (not that it's a high benchmark) (DVD).
18 - Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter (1966)* - For parts of this movie it just felt like a western, it was okay and could have been cut down 20 minutes with no problem. On this day in 1882, Jesse James was killed by Robert Ford (online).
19 - Robot Jox (1990)* - I always remember loving the trailer for this on a couple of videos I used to rent but never got the chance to actually see it until now. I enjoyed it and like the effects in the movie. Anne-Marie Johnson was cute in this (not so much her hairstyle though) and she has a nice behind (Netflix).
20 - Gracie's Choice (2004)* - Lifetime movie. Is stereotypical of what I imagine happens in many true life made for TV stories - bad stuff happens to people, then more bad stuff, then it get worse and then a happy ending (or they die) - there is a sad scene with a dog 5 minutes in. I picked this basically because it starred Kristen Bell, no other reason. (online)

April 04

21 - S. Darko (2009)* - I had trouble sleeping and despite being very uninteresting and slow didn't help get me to sleep - I checked the time to see how long it had been on thinking it had been on 40 minutes or so to discover it was only at the 20 minute mark. Daveigh Chase has grown up pretty though. First true dud of the challenge for me (Netflix).
22 - Mystery Science Theater 3000 - The Violent Years (1994, original film 1956)* - I watched The Violent Years for the first time only a couple of weeks ago, so thought it would be fun to watch MST3K tackle it. I have to admit I have not seen too much MST3K but I laughed more then once (online).
23 - The Intruder (1962)* - Was blown away by this. Really didn't believe Roger Corman as a director and William Shatner had it in them to make a film like this. I was hooked from start to finish, arguably the best film I've watched of the challenge yet. Watched today since on this day in 1968 Martin Luther King was assassinated and felt this had an equal rights connection. (online)
24 - King Dick (1973) - If I make it to 100 films I'm pretty much guaranteed there won't be another film where a male character slips naked on a banana skin and as accidental anal sex with another naked male character. This was something I used to watch a lot when I was younger because any nudity whether it's cartoon or not was nudity. I enjoyed catching up with it for the first time in 20+ years (DVD).
25 - 2012: Doomsday (2008)* - With this movie from The Asylum I expected (and wanted) people panicking to bad special effects because it's the end of the world instead we get a film about fate with Christian overtones. It's pretty boring. (DVD)
26 - The Return Of Captain Invincible (1983)* - I loved this film. Great lead performances from Alan Arkin and Christopher Lee among others, decent songs particularly Lee performing Name Your Poison. One of two first time views of today that I loved (DVD).
27 - Yakuza Deka (1970)* - More Sonny Chiba, I enjoyed this but would have liked more action then it did have, ending was exciting though. Watched in original language (DVD).

April 05

28 - Yakuza Deka - The Assassin (1970)* - This movie is actually an improvement on the first movie, it's a lot more action packed and fun, I would recommend seeing this even without seeing the first. Japanese wrestler Giant Baba has a small role, it's surprising this is the first movie where a wrestler has popped up in the challenge. Watched in original language (DVD).
29 - The Raven (1963)* - 2 days and 2 pretty awesome movies directed by Roger Corman, love the three leads in this (Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre), more funnier then I thought it would be. Happy birthday Roger Corman! (DVD)
30 - Piranha (1995)* - A made for TV remake starring William Katt and Baywatch's Alexandra Paul, it's not really awful but doesn't do enough to stand. Before they were famous role for Mila Kunis as Katt's daughter (DVD).
31 - Super (2010) - Really enjoy this movie, think this movie belongs to Ellen Page, I think she's brilliant in it but I liked the rest of the cast too, a couple of notes related to the challenge - William Katt has a small role so it was my second film in a row with him in, and the supporting cast features two people on the director's safe list (Lloyd Kaufman and Rob Zombie who voices God) (Blu Ray).
32 - Another Day, Another Man (1966)* - I liked it for what it was which by that I mean now a period piece of the time it's from. I'm glad it wasn't longer then the 70 minutes it was or I would have got bored (DVD).
33 - The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto (2009)* - I enjoyed this cartoon, there was plenty of funny bits, I particularly liked Rosario Dawson's character Velvet Von Black, it had a good pace and the time watching it just flew by. (DVD)
34 - Witchfinder General (1968)* - As a Brit I've neglected British cinema so far, this movie changed that and it was an awesome choice. Decided from watching The Raven earlier that I wanted to watch another Vincent Price movie, can't believe I didn't see it sooner. (DVD).

April 06

35 - Postal (2007) Commentary Track - The main things I learn't from this Uwe Boll commentary where that he hates Bin Laden, George W. Bush, tree huggers, his critics, his fans, Germany, America and himself among other things. He believes Sarah Silverman and David Cross where puss*es for passing on the movie but praises his cast at least and he doesn't mind answering his phone multiply times (DVD).
36 - Psycho Beach Party (2000)* - It felt like a 60s beach movie (with a slasher element) unfortunately it also didn't feel like a very good one, I'd recommend giving it a miss. Before They Were Famous - Amy Adams (online).
37 - The Lost World (1925)* - I have to say my favourite thing about this movie was it's special effects but I'm a sucker for stop motion effects. On this date in 1925 this became the first ever film to be shown on an aeroplane as the in flight movie (online).
38 - Coffy (1973) - Love this film, 1970s Pam Grier is gorgeous and she has a couple of scenes of T&A. I love the story and action as well and a great supporting cast including Sid Haig (DVD).
39 - Baadasssss Cinema (2002)* - While I liked this documentary about Blaxploitation cinema it had two negatives it should have been longer and failed to have interviews with many stars of the era, but there is some good stuff in there (DVD).
40 - The Adventures Of Pluto Nash (2002)* - This film cost $100 million to make and made about $7 million so it easily qualifies as a box office bomb. It's a supposed comedy where I smiled at a couple of jokes and rolled my eyes at plenty, what's surprising is that it's bad but it's not even Eddie Murphy's worst (Norbit is worse) and it shocks me Ron Underwood, the same guy who did Tremors directed this. Until the opening credits I didn't know Pam Grier was in this so I ended up having an accidental triple bill of hers. (DVD)

41 - Drunken Master (1978) - I love this film to bits, to me it was the start of Jackie Chan's golden period for me that lasted into the early 90s. amazing kung fu and very funny to boot. Watched in original language. Happy birthday Jackie Chan! (DVD)
42 - Drunken Master 2 (1994)* - Very fun movie, that is not a direct follow on but rather set in a different time period. Good kung fu, but the weirdest thing is that the late beautiful Anita Mui plays Jackie Chan's mother (she is entertaining just way too young for the role). Again happy birthday Jackie! (DVD)
43 - Exorcist II - The Heretic (1977)* - Chose this as "Bad Sequel To Well Regarded Film" and boy was I bored by it. Almost looked like it would pick up with the girl getting cured of her autism but then it went back to sucking straight after (DVD)
44 - Thriller - A Cruel Picture (1974)* - It was okay, I think this film could have easily been cut down by quite a lot because some scenes just dragged especially when the main character is using karate on the police officers in slow motion, it felt like it went on forever (online)
45 - Sister Street Fighter (1974)* - This is the sixth Sonny Chiba film I've watched so far for this challenge and it's his smallest role in any of them so far and the first one that I am watching dubbed. I enjoyed this the action was good enough and it had some entertaining characters (DVD).
46 - Maniac Cop (1988)* - Always been meaning to see this for years, I quite enjoyed it with a decent cast and every time I see Tom Atkins in a movie I'm always reminded of how much I like him (DVD).
47 - Gridlock'd (1997)* - Picked it because it qualified as a "Hood" film. I thought this movie was excellent. I thought Tupac and Tim Roth had fantastic chemistry. (DVD)

April 08

48 - Tarantula (1955)* - I was really impressed by the special effects in this movie and enjoyed the film much. Clint Eastwood as an uncredited before they where famous role as a jet pilot which brings me to on this day in 1986, Clint Eastwood was voted in as mayor of Carmel, California (DVD).
49 - Francis In The Navy (1955)* - another Eastwood film, this was his first role as a featured player (he's about fifth or sixth billed overall). This in an entry in the Francis the Talking mule series and I quite enjoyed it. Again Eastwood Mayor this day (DVD).
50 - If You Meet Sartana, Pray For Death (1968)* - User coyoteblue suggested this when I wanted somebody to pick my 50th and I'm really glad he did because I really enjoyed it, this was exactly what I wanted from a spaghetti western. (online)
51 - The House By The Cemetery (1981)* - I liked this, it had a good atmosphere and that, but... the little kid Bob - his bloody dubbed voice was awful, some of the worst dubbing I've ever heard in an Italian movie (DVD).
52 - Back To The Beach (1987)* - I enjoyed this movie, it was fun and had a nice flow, the biggest negative was the performance of the actor who played the son called Bobby (what's with me and problems with kids of that name today?). Watched because Annette Funicello sadly passed away today (Netflix).
53 - The Last Sentinel (2007)* - This sci-fi action movie starring Don 'The Dragon and Katee Sackhoff is neither original or memorable, I felt like I'd lost interest in the first 20 minutes but stuck it out till the bitter end. Katee Sackhoff celebrates her birthday today (DVD).

April 09

54 - Robo Vampire (1988)* - editing 2 (or more) films together it's certainly the work of Godfrey Ho, I really enjoyed this mess of a movie but then again I'm a big Ho fan. RoboCop it's not (DVD).
55 - Mondo Topless (1966)* - I liked this, I think mostly because it had no pretensions about itself, it was about ladies dancing with their big boobs out with the girls voicing over and another awesome male narrator and very 60s music. (DVD)
56 - Birth Of The Beatles (1979)* - TV movie telling the Beatles early years is neither particularly good or bad and mostly goes on too long, it's remarkable how much they captured the sound of the Beatles though. The band in 1965 released Ticket to The Ride in the UK (Youtube).
57 - Hobo With A Shotgun (2011)* - enjoyed the hell out of this, not a subtle or realistic film in the slightest but really good fun (Netflix).
58 - Galaxy Of Terror (1981)* - obvious Alien rip-off from Corman with a decent cast and some very memorable bits (most notably the worm sex scene). Before they were famous in a non acting way for James Cameron who was production designer and 2nd unit director (DVD).

April 10

59 - Sex Madness (1938)* - Not enough sex, or madness for that matter for me, enjoyable to laugh at though. Watched today because on this date in 1938 in New York it was made mandatory to get a syphilis test in order to get a marriage licence (Youtube).
60 - Galaxina (1980)* - I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this, sure some of the jokes where lame but it had a fun energy (DVD).
61 - Ticks (1993)* - The best thing about this film is Alfonso Riberio playing a tough gangsta (who also loves his dog), I enjoyed the film enough even if I wasn't blown away by it (DVD).
62 - Hell Ride (2008)* - I wanted so much to like this movie but it just didn't click for me, I was glad it was short as it it (DVD).
63 - Robot Monster (1953)* - Wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting, even if the main body was a guy in a gorilla suit, not great by any stretch but I kind of liked it (Youtube)
64 - Black Dynamite (2009)* - Really enjoyed this, lots of funny bits in it, hope the sequel that has been talked about happens (DVD).

April 11

65 - The Great Texas Dynamite Chase (1976)* - Liked this a lot, can't go wrong with two beautiful leads robbing banks with dynamite, I did think the law enforcement was a bit trigger happy though (Youtube)
66 - Slapstick Of Another Kind (1982)* - Scoring IMDB rating of 2, this film wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for some of Jerry Lewis' mugging. Kurt Vonnegut, who wrote the book this movie is based on passed away on this day in 2007 (DVD).
67 - Bruce's Ways Of Kung Fu (1979)* - After putting the DVD in, I realized I was watching the wrong Bruceploitation DVD from the box-set (I mean't to put in Bruce's Deadly Kung Fu) but stuck with it because it was Godfrey Ho and Dragon Lee (credited as Bruce Lai), I liked it but I like most stuff Ho. The second Ho period piece I've seen where a man dresses as a woman (DVD).
68 - Crime Boss (1972)* - Just really didn't find this very interesting at all, pretty forgettable. Wish there was more I could write (DVD).
69 - Flesh Gordon (1974)* - Wow it was a happy coincidence that something from the sexploitation genre would end up the 69th movie I watched. Great fun with pretty good sets and effects (online).

April 12

70 - Battle Beyond The Sun (1959/1962)* - Roger Corman took a Russian space movie and did new scenes and dialogue, not bad for what it is, but not amazing. Before they were famous behind the scenes for Francis Ford Coppola who's credited as co-producer. On this day in 1961 USSR won the space race with Yuri Gagarin being the first man in space (Youtube).
71 - Emmanuelle (1974)* - I really dug this, Sylvia Kristel hot as hell here. I'm glad I got hold of a copy today of this for the challenge (DVD).
72 - Gestapo's Last Orgy (1977)* - It was okay I suppose, some bits will stick in the memory for a long time (Youtube).
73 - Revenge Of The Virgins (1959)* - this nudie-cutie is enjoyable more as a curiosity as anything else, feels like an old western unless boobs are present (Youtube).
74 - Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus (2009)* - I enjoyed it, after the boring-ness of the last film I watched from The Asylum this was an improvement, how can you dislike a film where a giant shark snatches a passenger plane out of mid-air? (DVD)
75 - The Plumber (1979)* - From Peter Weir this Aussie film had a good tension going for it between the plumber and the woman and you are never quite sure how much is in her mind (DVD).

April 13

76 - Wizards Of The Demon Sword (1991)* - It's a cheap sort of spoof of cheap sword and sorcery movies, I thought it was a fun movie but reviews don't suggest it. Happy birthday to Lyle Waggoner who stars (Youtube).
77- Cannibal Man (1973)* - I liked it, less cannibal man then the title suggested though and more kill then kill then dispose of the body man (DVD).
78 - The Big Boss (1971) - I am a huge Bruce Lee fan so it would be with a lot of bias if I give my opinion on this movie - this is a great first leading role for Lee in a kung fu movie (DVD).
79 - Fist Of Fury (1972) - This is my favourite of the Bruce Lee movies, it's probably because Bruce Lee is pretty much angry from start to finish, lots of brilliant fight scenes. (DVD).

80 - Way Of The Dragon (1972) - A bit slower to get going then Fist Of Fury so I don't like it quite as much, but it's got Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris so I love it (DVD).
81 - Enter The Dragon (1973) - I just love the tone of the movie, it feels like it's a 70s Hong Kong movie clashing with a 70s spy movie, Bruce Lee's character is a bit of dick though when you think about it. Before they were famous role for Jackie Chan (DVD).
82 - Loose Screws (1985) - I watched this a lot when I was a kid, mostly because it was one of my only chances to see some T&A. I've got to say it hasn't aged well for me, the four teen leads are unlikable and the females are pretty much just walking boobs, some films perhaps should stay a memory (Youtube).
83 - A Gnome Named Gnorm (Upworld) (1990) - This is something I last saw when I was a kid and unlike Loose Screws it aged better for me though parts of it are childish and parts more grown up which gives it an uneven tone. One of only two films Stan Winston directed. Happy birthday Anthony Michael Hall (Youtube).
84 - Santo vs Dr. Death (1973)* - I am not too familiar with Mexican wrestling movies, but I enjoyed this enough to actually want to see more Mexican wrestling films (Youtube).
85 - Not Of This Earth (1988)* - Traci Lords first "legit" acting role is not a great movie but it's an enjoyable movie (DVD).

April 15

86 - D.O.A. (1950)* - I liked this one, good story line that kept me interested from start to finish. I picked this to knock Film Noir era off my checklist(DVD).
87 - Death Race 2000 (1975) - If I had to pick one film for this challenge that had to be mandatory to watch it would be this. This movie is an absolute classic, I could watch it again and again (DVD).
88 - Rock N Roll High School (1979) - This is the sort of perfect film for me, I'm a huge Ramones fan and I love Paul Bartel, P.J. Soles and Mary Woronov, the cheesy jokes just add to the charm for me. Joey Ramone sadly passed away on this day in 2001 (DVD).
89 - High School Caesar (1960)* - Maybe it's because it followed 2 5* classics for me but I didn't find it that good or memorable at all, maybe the Caesar wasn't Caesar enough for me or something (Youtube).
90 - Machete (2010) - My reason for watching this is I planned to spend big portions of the day watching films that qualify that I have already seen to mark the half way point of the challenge and to stop the risk of burn out. This is like a lot of Robert Rodriguez stuff to me I like it but I don't love it (DVD).
91 - Street Fighter The Movie (1994) - Sue me, I really enjoy this movie, probably the biggest reason for enjoyment is Raul Julia in his final performance as M. Bison. I know it's not a great movie but I can't resist it. I also think this is the first time in my life I've followed up a film with Steven Seagal with one starring JCVD, as I tend to avoid most of the films the pair have done (DVD).
92 - The Arena (1974)* - It's 70s Pam Grier so she's fine as hell, I liked this - entirely what I was expecting from it and that's a good thing (DVD).
93 - Silver Dragon Ninja (1986)* - not sure how I've managed to watch 8 films today, maybe it's because television has been crap and had nothing else better to do. This is is modern set ninja film that is clearly 2 (or more) films edited together and is the sole directing credit for Don Kong, who I'm going to say is a pseudonym for Godfrey Ho, it feels like one of his (if not somebody wants to copy him) (DVD).

April 16

94 - Game Of Death (1978) - A Bruce Lee movie and a Bruceploitation all wrapped into one, obviously at it's best when it's the real Lee (the three fights at the end) but there is a couple of 1978 fights particularly "Lee" against Bob Wall that aren't too bad. Watched because it's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's birthday today(DVD).
95 - Flavia The Heretic (1974)* - I enjoyed this, I am quite unfamiliar with Nunsploitation but this peaked my interest in watching further films, I don't know how tame or extreme this in regards to others in the genre (Youtube).
96 - Keith Lemon The Film (2012)* - Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 0% fresh rating and it only very recently left the IMDB Bottom 100. So it easily qualifies for critical bomb. I don't think Keith Lemon (Leigh Francis) is known in America but he is very popular at the moment as the host of Celebrity Juice (a celebrity quiz show). The film was not awful it's just he was best sticking to TV (DVD).
97 - The Raid (2011)* - I felt it qualified for the challenge because it was a film from Asia that features martial arts. Thought it was a cool flick, was really into it (DVD).

April 17

98 - Hell Comes To Frogtown (1988)* - Pretty cool movie, I enjoyed this, I particularly enjoyed Rory Calhoun and the female frog Happy birthday Rowdy Roddy Piper (DVD).
99 - The Killing Machine (1976)* - Now this is the best Sonny Chiba film I've seen for the challenge (that I haven't see before), I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. (DVD)
100 - Once Upon A Time In The West (1968) - To celebrate getting to 100 films in this challenge I marked it with one of my absolute favourite movies of all time, this film is a freaking classic. On a note don't mind using it as a wild card if it doesn't quite meet the criteria (DVD).
101 - Barbarella (1968)* - I can't believe it took me this long to see such a well known film. Really enjoyed the visuals of this film, and Jane Fonda is hot as hell here (DVD).

April 18

102 - DOA - Dead Or Alive (2006)* - Something of a box-office bomb and also an American martial arts movie. This movie was a lot of fun with plenty of attractive women (out of the bunch in this I think it's Jaime Pressly who does it most for me), not what I'd call a great movie but entertaining. Happy birthday Eric Roberts (DVD).
103 - Twisted Nerve (1968)* - Watched it because of the Kill Bill theme connection, really enjoyed this with an excellent lead performances from Hywel Bennett and Hayley Mills. Parts of it have noticeably dated though Happy birthday Hayley Mills (DVD).
104 - Game Of Death II (Tower Of Death) (1981) - If you take the Bruce Lee/Bruceploitation aspect out of this, this is a good kung fu flick in my eyes (DVD).
105 - Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988) - Love this film, it's a lot of fun, my favourite performance in the entire movie is John Vernon's (Netflix).

April 19

106 - Ready To Rumble (2000)* - stupid but at least an entertaining movie that has an odd balance of juvenile humour but moments that aren't really for kids. Before they were famous role for future wrestling star John Cena who is working out in a gym (DVD).
107 - The Fat Spy (1965)* - I enjoyed this it was a bit of a beach movie parody, some good music in there as well Today would have been Jayne Mansfield's birthday (DVD). (decided to have a slow day for a change may have a few more of these now I've passed 100 to get in the chance to watch some other none qualifying stuff).

108 - Reefer Madness - The Movie Musical (2005) - I enjoyed this movie maybe went on a bit long. Kristen Bell made me feel funny int his movie Happy 420 everyone (DVD).
109 - Maniac (1980) - Joe Spinell, man what a terrific actor. I remember when I first saw this I went into this not expecting a film so well acted, I am also big on Caroline Munro so it's a bonus(DVD).
110 - The Joe Spinell Story (2001)* - What I liked about this documentary was that some of his friends and co-workers didn't always hold back on him especially when it came to his use of alcohol, they all loved him but they don't remember him with rose-tinted glasses (DVD).
111 - The Last Horror Film (1982)* - Sort of turned into a Joe Spinell/Caroline Munro day (I didn't watch Star Crash because it wasn't that long since I last watched it), again Spinell's performance is excellent and didn't see the ending coming (DVD).

April 21

112 - Double Trouble (1967)* - I did enjoy it but I imagine in time to come it will blur into other average Elvis movies, The King singing Old McDonald Had A Farm though is not his singing highlight. Norman Rossington who appears here was also in A Hard Day's Night - he must be the only person to have acted alongside both The Beatles and Elvis. Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel went to number one today (DVD).
113 - Knock Off (1997)* - Pretty average action buddy movie, I watched it because besides a few JCVD films, I've never really giving much of his stuff a chance after watching this I don't particularly feel like I'm missing out on anything amazing (DVD).

1. Kansas City Confidential (Karlson, 1952)* NWI Engaging revenge film noir with Lee Van Cleef in one of his earliest roles playing a baddie.
2. Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw (Lester, 1976)* NWI Pretty enjoyable fugitive/on the run flick with Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) baring her nice rack a few times.
3. Rolling Thunder (Flynn, 1977)* I'm really glad I finally watched this. Awesome revenge film. 70s films are the best.

April 2
4. Bad Lieutenant (Ferrara, 1992)* AIV Watching Harvey Keitel's spiraling descent was kind of a beautiful thing to witness...his full frontal nudity less so. Probably not the best film to watch with my mom, but she's in town visiting and at the mercy of this challenge along with me.
5. The Mercenary aka A Professional Gun (Corbucci, 1968)* NWI Very entertaining Spaghetti Western with Sergio Corbucci and Franco Nero working together again after Django. Jack Palance was sporting a nice looking perm. Fun stuff. Definitely recommended.
6. Succubus (Franco, 1968)* Bizarre. Janine Reynaud making out with mannequins at one point. I couldn't really get into it but may revisit later. Nonetheless, RIP Jess Franco.

April 4
7. Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry (Hough, 1974)* Fun car chase/police escape flick. Peter Fonda drove the hell out of the cars in this. Pretty bad dialogue with a surprise ending.
8. Two-Lane Blacktop (Hellman, 1971)* BD Well done road movie with some good drag racing scenes. A nice snapshot of America with some familiar scenery in Tennessee and North Carolina. Interesting casting choice with Beach Boy Dennis Wilson in his only film role and a young James Taylor with hair in a rare acting role. Warren Oates was great as G.T.O.

April 5
9. Death Race 2000 (Bartel, 1975)* BD I've been meaning to watch this for a while. Cool concept and lots of action. It's deserving of its cult classic status. (Happy Birthday, Roger Corman!)
10. Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel (Stapleton, 2011)* Nice documentary on the legend with some interesting interviews with many Hollywood folks he inspired and whose careers he helped launch. I especially liked the scenes with Jack Nicholson. It could've been a bit more in depth but made me want to explore more of his films I haven't seen.

April 6
11. Rosie Dixon - Night Nurse (Cartwright, 1978)* (Drive-In Classic channel) Dated British sex comedy with lots of cheesy humor. Teenager Rosie Dixon decides to become a nurse but has to deal with most of the doctors and patients at her hospital continually groping her. There was a good amount of T&A throughout including several scenes with the nurses showering together.
12. Drive-In Movie Memories (Kuenne, 2001)* AIV Nice little documentary on the history of drive-in theatres. It makes me want to check out a local drive-in when it opens for the season.
13. Don’t Turn the Other Cheek aka Long Live Your Death (Tessari, 1971)* AIV Decent spaghetti western comedy during the Mexican Revolution with Franco Nero, Eli Wallach, and Lynn Redgrave (she had a nice but silly fight scene.) Pretty campy humor and good action that was enjoyable enough since it didn’t run on too long.
14. White Lightning (Sargent, 1973)* Entertaining movie with lots of action and car chase/moonshine running scenes. Probably my favorite Burt Reynolds role, and Ned Beatty was convincing as the corrupt small-town sheriff. Pretty authentic depiction of small town life in the South.
15. The Wild Angels (Corman, 1966)* Roger Corman directing Peter Fonda, Bruce Dern, etc. in a Hell's Angels biker flick. Nothing amazing but a good biker flick that led the way for others.
16. Dolemite (Martin, 1975)* Blaxploitation classic that I should've watched years ago. Lots of fun, and Rudy Ray Moore had a bunch of great one liners.

17. Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story (Schwarz, 2007)* TCMU Great documentary on the godfather of gimmicks. My knowledge of him was pretty much limited to John Waters' admiration of him as a big influence in his This Filthy World show. Waters along with Roger Corman, Fred Olen Ray, Joe Dante, etc. shared their appreciation of his filmmaking and perhaps morseo his marketing skills here. It made me nostalgic for a time of going to the movies I never was alive to witness.
18. Macabre (Castle, 1958)* TCMU The first of his gimmick films. The plot according to IMDb: a doctor's daughter is kidnapped and buried alive, and he is given just five hours to find and rescue her. This was okay, but I'm sure it would've been a lot more interesting experiencing it at the time of release.
19. Perversion for Profit (1965)* TCMU TCMU educational documentary shorts. This one was sponsored by the Citizens for Decent Literature (founded by Charles Keating who produced this film and was later implicated in the Savings and Loan scandal in the 80s...pretty ironic/hypocritical) warning all good God-fearing Americans of the perils of p*rnography, hom*osexuality, sodomy, sado-masochism, etc. perpetuated by godless Communists trying to make a quick buck. Thankfully, the film showed many examples of nude stills from magazines with different men and women very slightly censored so we know what to avoid.

Crisis in Morality (1962)* TCMU Another educational short documentary narrated by the Vice President of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. This was all about how America is destroying itself internally like Rome and other civilizations due to drug use, youth crime, divorce, etc. caused primarily by a declining belief in Jesus and adherence to Christian principles. It's not too late, though, if we change our sinful ways.

To Your Health* TCMU The last educational short documentary was an animated one produced by the World Health Organization. It discussed the perils of alcoholism and its impact on health. It was shorter and a lot less preachy than the previous two.
20. Vigilante (Lustig, 1983)* BD Really great revenge flick with an excellent cast. I'll have to watch it with the commentary tracks at some point.

(non-challenge) Lincoln (Spielberg, 2012)* BD Nice anti-blaxploitation Hollywood fare with Daniel Day-Lewis in an Oscar-worthy role with a nice supporting cast. One that everyone enjoyed.

April 9
21. Bikini Beach (Asher, 1964)* AIV 60s AIP camp fun with Frankie and Annette. Pretty cheesy but can't go wrong with a surfing/drag racing monkey and plenty of bikinis on the beach. I'm a day late and disappointed my OOP Back to the Beach DVD has a manufacturing defect that wouldn't let me finish it. RIP Annette.

April 10
22. Massage Parlor Murders (Fox/Stevens, 1972)* BD Vinegar Syndrome did a nice job bringing this back and restoring it. Nice low budget exploitation movie with plenty of action, demented killer, blood, and T&A. A bit slow at times but enjoyable overall. IMDb lists it as Massage Parlor Hookers (1976).

April 11
22. Miami Connection (Kim/Park, 1987)* BD Ridiculously fun bad movie full of 80s cheesiness. Crap acting, cheesy synth pop, bad editing, etc. throughout while a rock band who are all black belts in Tae Kwon Do battle a co*ke dealing gang and ninjas. Awesome.

April 12
23. Death Weekend (Fruet, 1976)* (VHS-sourced DVD-R) Nice opening car chase sets the stage in this tense home invasion + rape/revenge film. Gritty and violent. Brenda Vaccaro did a nice job as the victim seeking revenge.
24. The 'Burbs (Dante, 1989) It's been a long time since I've seen this since I was pretty young, and I didn't remember much about it. Fun dark comedy dealing with suburban paranoia and weird neighbors. Underrated 80s movie with some wacky humor and great one-liners. Bruce Dern was hilarious.

April 13
25. Long Weekend (Eggleston, 1978)* A couple go camping for the weekend at an isolated beach and run into constant trouble as they fight with each other and the natural environment around them. Chilling atmosphere created from the great cinematography and eerie soundtrack. It plodded along at times. The ending, while not a big surprise, was very effective.
26. Wild Weed aka She Shoulda Said "No" (Newfield [under the pseudonym "Sherman Scott"], 1949)* AIV Exploitation/"educational" film starring Lila Leeds that was produced to capitalize on her arrest the previous year with Robert Mitchum for possession of marijuana at her home. The film struggled to find a distributor until Kroger Babbs' Hallmark Production acquired the distribution rights. In one of his marketing gimmicks, Babbs sent letters to local communities falsely claiming the US Treasury Department implored Hallmark to release the film "in as many towns and cities as possible in the shortest possible length of time" as a public service. It was a successful gimmick and made lots of money. Similar scare tactics reminiscent of Reefer Madness are used portraying weed as a gateway drug and showing kids maniacally laughing after smoking. Pretty standard good girl gone bad story where Leeds' character ruins her career, and her brother kills himself after she starts smoking marihuana/marijuana. She shoulda said "no" indeed. I also shoulda said "no" to this film.
27. She Woke Up Pregnant (Contner, 1996)* (Lifetime TV movie via YouTube) A sleazy dentist played by Joe Penny sexually assaults his patients while they are under heavy sedatives after he performs dental surgery on them. One woman gets impregnated by him and decides to fight back. The dentist denies the rape allegations and claims they had an affair. This causes a lot of problems for her marriage and personal life because her husband (who had a vasectomy and reminds her of this during an argument by stating "My sperm has no sem*n!") questions her fidelity. Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter) plays the dentist's lawyer. Based on a true story.

April 14
28. Schlock! The Secret History of American Movies (Greene, 2001)* Well done documentary on exploitation films with informative interviews with Roger Corman, Doris Wishman, Sam Arkoff, etc. and nice archival footage. It does a good job of going over the basics and exploring some subgenres even if it's a bit limited. The part on sexploitation was interesting to see the advent of nudie cuties vs. roughies and beyond.
29. The Immoral Mr. Teas (Meyer, 1959)* Russ Meyer's feature film debut was the first nudie cutie and pushed the envelope for what was permissible on screen. It's dated and reminded me of early French comedies, and the only audio was from somewhat repetitive music and a narrator. The main character is a door-to-door salesman of dental equipment who ogles and daydreams about the women he encounters. It had some nice T&A, especially for the time. Despite its historical importance, I'm glad this only ran a bit over an hour.
30. Bad Girls Go to Hell (Wishman, 1965)* My first Doris Wishman film. A 60s sexploitation flick/roughie brought back by Something Weird Video. Somewhat entertaining if only for a scantily clad Gigi Darlene but overall passable.
31. The Last Dragon (Schultz, 1985)* TCMU Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon courtesy of Motown Productions is a lot of fun. Cheesy 80s music and effects and lots of ridiculous fight scenes and lines. Very entertaining kung fu movie with a ton of Bruce Lee references. Sho'nuff!

April 15
32. Ladies They Talk About (Bretherton/Keighley, 1933)* TCM Early WIP pre-Code drama starring Barbara Stanwyck as a member of a small gang of bank robbers who is caught and goes to prison. Pretty enjoyable despite some overacting.

April 16
Elvis Mitchell: Under the Influence: Quentin Tarantino (Trachtenberg, 2008)* TCMU Nice interview with Tarantino on his early influences and his appreciation of some classics. He's an interesting guy with a weird, frenetic energy for sure, but he's passionate about films and it shines in this interview. I figured the timing of this re-airing this morning was perfect for picking up Django Unchained on release day today.

33. Django Unchained (Tarantino, 2012) BD I saw this when it was released in theaters, and it was a great movie-going experience. The crowd was really engaged and into it. Over-the-top Tarantino fun and a nice homage to his influences as always. I've been anticipating the Blu-ray release for a while and was not disappointed rewatching this. Looks great on BD.

34. Hobo with a Shotgun (Eisener, 2011)* BD Bloody and violent and a ton of fun. Rutger Hauer was awesome. Surprise visit from Robb Wells aka Ricky from Trailer Park Boys. O Canada!

36. The Lords of Salem (Zombie, 2012)* (Theater) What I saw was good and pretty creepy atmosphere. I'll have to watch again when it's released on home video since I admittedly had a little trouble staying awake for the whole film.

37. Surf II (Badat, 1984)* (a friend's VHS-sourced DVD-R) Ridiculous, campy 80's surf/'zombie' movie with Eddie Deezen and a young Eric Stoltz, T&A, and a nice soundtrack with a good amount of Oingo Boingo. Also, there is no Surf I.

38. Killer Nun (Berruti, 1979)* BD Nice and sleazy giallo/nunsploitation with a great performance by Anita Ekberg in the lead role as a troubled nun. She was past her prime at this point but still did a nice job.
39. Menace II Society (Hughes/Hughes, 1993) This was to go towards "hood film" on the checklist. I forgot I saw this a long time ago. Powerful film and one of the best of the genre.

40. Fist of Fury aka The Chinese Connection (Lo, 1972)* Nice action-packed Bruce Lee film with some interesting historical/political undertones with the conflict between the Chinese vs. Japanese.
41. Blind Fist of Bruce (Luk, 1979)* Got this Bruce Li DVD used for $2 at a local record store a week ago for this challenge. Fun stuff and certainly worth the price of admission.
42. Evil Bong (Band, 2006)* Decent stoner horror comedy with appearances by Tommy Chong and Bill Moseley. Definitely a Full Moon flick.
43. Calibre 9(Di Leo, 1972)* BD Really glad I picked up the 4 disc Di Leo BD set from amazon when it was $12.99. Great deal, and this film alone would be worth it.

44. The Brain That Wouldn't Die (Green, 1962)* AIV Non-MST3K version of this sci-fi classic. I need to watch the MST3K version I have on DVD that I've been putting off watching for years.
45. Birdemic: Shock and Terror (Nguyen, 2010)* I regretfully watched this to knock out a "horror" movie that was also in the IMDb bottom 100. It's rightfully #6 at the moment. It's hard to imagine many worse movies exist. It's difficult to put into words how bad it is from the crap wooden acting, poor sound editing, sh*tty CGI of the birds, etc. I'm guessing Hitchco*ck wouldn't be too proud he influenced this. It's kind of hard to believe Severin picked this up to distribute it and that it got a Blu-ray release given the sh*tty video quality. I'll have to buy the RiffTrax commentary to get their take on this one.

2. Phantoms (1998). TV--Phantoms is one of Dean Koontz's better novels, but this adaptation just plods. Affleck has become a great director, but I've seen planks of wood give more emotive line readings. And how did the producers blackmail Peter O' Toole into appearing in this flick? It's not a complete waste of time, but it could have been so much better.

April 4.
3. Gargoyles (1972). YouTube--Hey, SyFy, this is how you make a creature feature! I'd love to see Guillermo Del Toro take a whack at remaking it.
4. Spiders (2013). Blu-Ray-Giant spiders with alien DNA terrorize NYC. Pretty lame SyFy-style critter flick.

5. Revolt of the Slaves (1960). TV--Typical 60s Italian peplum, although the hero could use more muscle.

6. Boss Ni663r (1975). YouTube--The Hammer stars in this 70s blaxploitation Western as a badass bounty hunter in the Old West.

10. The Holy Mountain (1973). Blu-Ray--Cult films don't get much cultier than Jodowsky's "The Holy Mountain", a hallucinatory mishmash of Catholic imagery, Mexican history, and lots of naked people.

12. The Gay Falcon (1941). TV--Sadly, not a gay p*rn remake of The Maltese Falcon. Instead it's an entertaining B-picture starring the underrated George Sanders as a playboy detective who gets involved in murder and diamond theft in high society.

1. (1TV) Anatomy of a Psycho (1961)-Pretty interesting concept (For it's time) but this was a little too much on the talky side....And I already hope this is the last time I encounter a courtroom/trial scene in this challenge.

3. (1TV) Rolling Vengeance (1987)-Basic 80's revenge movie with a killer monster truck and Ned Beatty (Playing the baddie!) The big scene-stealer was to hear the immortal vengeance theme song: "Coming Up On You"
4. (1TV) The Return of Ringo (1965)-Though it's been well over a decade since I last saw the previous film, Pistol for Ringo, this sequel was miles better. Loved Morricone's music (No surprise) and Giuliano Gemma sure reminded me of Tatsuya Nakadai on more than one occasion.
5. (1TV) Three on a Meathook (1973)-Yeesh. Everyone's correct in pointing out how slooooow this one is. All I can say is thank God for the (Mild) gory moments and the "wah-wah" guitar.

6. (1TV) Hitler--Dead or Alive (1942)-Well, I do give some kudos to this for being one of the few madcap comedies which ends on a BLEAK note, and (Believe it or not) Tarantino says this was an influence on Inglorious Basterds. The last acts in both movies even look familiar.
7. (1TV) Taoism Drunkard (1984) (aka Drunken Wu-Tang)-Unquestionably, one of the most insane kung-fu films I've ever seen. The movie was always at it's best whenever the villain, "Old Devil", was onscreen though.
8. (1TV) Corvette Summer (1978)-Despite liking the movie, there wasn't enough car-action to qualify as Carsploitation. Thankfully, Dick Miller showed up to save the day!
9. (1TV) Paranoia (1970)-Not only was this not the blood-drenched giallo that I was expecting, but I got this mixed-up with ANOTHER "Paranoia". But you can't blame me for screwing this up since this film has the SAME title, SAME director, SAME lead actress, and it was made/released within the same year! I ended up sticking to the movie anyway. Turned out to be an okay potboiler.
10. (1TV) Screwballs (1983)-Wow. I'm always used to seeing 80's T&A comedies contain some sort of serious/romantic subplots, but this one was just non-stop perversion! Favorite moments were the Drive-In sequence (W/ The Arena playing) and Raven's cameo.

11. (1TV) Two-Gun Man from Harlem (1938)-Heavy print-damage to the film often made it unwatchable, but the one thing I couldn't help but notice was how casual Mantan Moreland's performance was...A few years before he began to always over-exaggerate.
12. (1TV) The Monster (1925)-Despite the fact that Lon Chaney really isn't given very much to do here (Though it's still cool to see him as a Mad Doctor) this was still very watchable and deserves to be seen by more folks.
13. (1TV) Bikini Beach (1964)-As bad as this was, it was nowhere near as painful to sit through ala Beach Blanket Bingo....In fact, I actually thought this was the best of the Frankie/Annette-Beach movies that I've seen.
14. (1TV) Phantom from Space (1953)-I admit doing some snoozing off during the middle of this. But what I can tell you is that this movie contains gratuitous theremin music and gratuitous dog-barking.
15. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)-I last watched this as a little kid and the only thing I remembered about it was the thief who turned into a green gorilla(!) After now re-visiting this, I was surprised at how solid I found this G-entry to be.
16. (1TV) Emanuelle:Queen of Sados (1980)-Even though some of Gemser's films go off the deep end, it's rare to see her in a role of a conniving & demanding "Queen B!tch"! (One of it's alternate titles) That element, along with (Some) of the steamy sex scenes, sets this one apart from the others. BTW, Another one of the film's alternate titles is "Emanuelle's Daughter" and yes, she does play the guardian of a VERY teen-aged daughter. (1TV) Iron Warrior (1987)-I never even knew that a 3rd Ator movie existed (Although I should've had a clue since the cover of Cave Dwellers used an image taken from this movie) Anyway, the only reason to check this out is to see the shot-for-shot remake(s) of certain sequences from Excalibur,Raiders of the Lost Ark and Superman:The Movie!
18. (1TV) Class of Nuke 'Em High Part II: Subhumanoid Meltdown (1991)-Jeezus. This felt like it was over 2 hours long. Lots of boobage, but not enough violent splatter (Which the 1st movie had)
19. (1TV) The Dirt Gang (1972)-Odd that this was made in '72. It looks and sounds like it was made about 4 years earlier (It just has that rich, 60's AIP look about it) Not a biker classic, but it definetly does NOT deserve a 1.6 rating at IMDB (Possibly due to the fact that so few have seen this) Nice to spot the starlet duo of Uschi & Malta as biker-groupies :thumbsup:
20. (1TV) Caddyshack II (1988)-My Bad Sequel to a "Well regarded film" pick. To be honest, The first 7 or 8 minutes had me thinking, "Maybe I shouldn't listen to all the haters". But once Chevy's first cameo ended, the movie went straight to hell.
21. (1TV) Killer's Delight (1978)-Kind of a standard manhunt flick involving a deranged kiler who loves breaking the bones of his female victims. I admit doing a bit of shuddering when we see the fingers of one victim getting snapped and I loved the last shot of the movie. No pun intended.
22. (1TV) South Seas Massacre (1974)-Fillipino oddity with Troy Donahue as a shipwrecked prisoner who washes up onshore handcuffed to his captor, a Cleavon Little-lookalike (Defiant Ones, anyone?) The men soon befriend the island natives before some nasty pirates show up to conquer the land. Things slow down in the middle, but I had certainly had enough fun with the beginning & closing acts. Probably the most fun I've yet to have!

23. (1TV) Damaged Goods (1937)-Despite the soundtrack sounding like it was being played backwards at times, I found this to be a refreshing entry in the roadshow world. Tons of drug flicks to go around, but hardly any that deal with STDs!
24. (1TV) Carnosaur (1993)-Dare I say that the plot was a little more complicated than it should have been?
25. (1TV) With Death on Your Back (1967)-Okay Eurospy movie with George Hilton. Could've used more Rosalba Neri.
26. (1TV) Land of the Minotaur (1976)-By the time this ended, it felt like I had watched some sort of prequel to Prince of Darkness where Priest Donald Pleasance battles the devil again! And aside from this film being realtively uneventful, I was still very much into it...Which could be thanks to Pleasance & Cushing.
27. (1TV) The Great Texas Dynamite Chase (1976)-Now this is the movie that Dixie Dynamite tried to be but completely failed at. Man, I really loved the Claudia/Tara duo here. And after checking out Tara's filmography, I didn't even realize that I've seen/owned all her theatrical films!
28. (1TV) Drive-In Madness! (1987)-An extremely jumbled (And very 80's) attempt at putting the drive-in experience in a compilation of trailers and interviews. Most of the trailers are from the IIP catalog and and a majority of the interviewees (Who consist of the filmmakers of Night of the Living Dead) spend most of their time talking about NOTLD (Quite understandable since NOTLD was approaching it's 20th Anniversary at that time. I, personally, remember that being HUGE news back in the day) Still though, this ended up being slightly rewarding for me just to see good ol' Linnea being interviewed (Looking incredibly cute here :eyebrow: ) and Forry Ackerman's recollections of working on Dracula vs Frankenstein certainly got some chuckles out of me.
29. (1TV) Terminal Island (1973)-I would say that this movie reached the hype, but the problem is that there's virtually no hype surviving for this one. Which is such a shame because I enjoyed it greatly. It's almost like f*ckusaku's Battle Royale only with sentenced-prisoners, male & female. "Too Damn Bad" is easily the best theme song I've heard thus far in this challenge! Oh, and make this the 2nd movie where I've seen a baddie go by the name of "Monk".

30. (1TV) Barb Wire (1996)-My Financial Bomb pick. This movie has as much dialogue as a Woody Allen film. No joke.
31. (1TV) The Terror Beneath the Sea (1966)-Sonny Chiba in an underwater monster movie (Something I thought I'd never say) I feared that this would be one of those movies that feature endless amounts of (Coma-inducing) scuba-diving sequences. Thankfully, all we were given was just one. I'd recommed this movie just to watch how badly entertaining the english-speaking actors are.
32. (1TV) Death Rage (1976)-A very reserved and low-brow crime/action piece from Marghereti. Possibly the hottest I've ever seen Barbara Bouchet look.
33. (1TV) The Sinister Urge (1960)-Ed Wood's most solid film? The intro to the film pointed out that this may very well be Wood's most competent movie and, thus far, I'd have to agree!
34. (1TV) Amuck (1972)-A little long and a little slow here and there, but highly worth checking out if you're into Barbara Bouchet and Rosalba Neri. Man, forget what I said about Barabara in Death Rage. Both her and Rosalba were freakin' ravishing here!!!
35. (1TV) Hapkido (1972)-Probably the biggest cast I've ever seen in a Golden Harvest film (Speaking of which, I think this is the slimmest I've ever seen Sammo look before!) Only drawbacks I had was that the plot/scenery was almost a dead-on imitation of Fist of Fury and some of the fight choreography looked sloppy in the early going. Definetly worth checking out just to see Angela whoopin' @$$ though.

36. (1TV) The Hypnotic Eye (1960)-Decent evil hypnotist flick. One thing that's different about it is that there isn't much death in this because he forces the victims do self-mutilation (Yikes!)
37. (1TV) Hawk the Slayer (1980)-I already admit to snoozing/dozing-off on a few movies already, but none of those had me as bored as this one.
38. (1TV) Shark Attack (1999)-God. Two boring duds in a row. I'm still willing to check off Shark Attack 3 for this challenge. Hopefully that one actually focuses more on shark attacks than this one did.
39. (1TV) White Cannibal Queen (1980)-Another crummy movie...But at least I found this to be badly entertaining. Can't be sure, but I think this movie contains the most blood that I've ever seen in a Jess Franco film! (There's some movies of his where 1 drop of blood couldn't even be afforded!)

43. (1TV) Macabre (1958)-Man, I didn't think a William Castle movie could ever be so complicated. I was completely lost by the 35th minute.

44. (1TV) Lemora: A Child's Tale of the Supernatural (1973)-This kinda reminded me of Malle's Black Moon with vampires & werewolves. Interesting and creepy moments here and there, I just expected a bit more given the (Minor) hype.
45. (1TV) Firewalker (1986)-Though it was actually quite a pleasure to see Chuck give such a loose performance, this movie didn't need to be that long.
46. (1TV) Mosquito (1995)-Enjoyably silly. Loved Gunnar Hansen in this.
47. (1TV) Teenage Thunder (1957)-Quite surprised by this! The cliches are expected, but I really liked the movie's flow and the handling of the father figures here.
48. (1TV) Axe (1977)-I've never heard any good things about this, but felt like finally giving it a try anyway. Storywise, there is some potential to work with here. Its' just that the direction is soooo slooooow....Even the 1-hour runtime can be felt.

52. 42nd Street Forever, Volume 4: Cooled by Refrigeration (2009)-My least-viewed volume of the 42nd streets. Felt like giving it's commentary a listen.
53. (1TV) Battle Beyond the Stars (1980)-I remember seeing a little bit of this waay back in the day. Can't really say it was worth the wait to see the whole thing. I understand that Robert Vaughn was a reprising a role that he played in Magnificent 7, but here, he sure came off looking like the most pissed-off actor to have ever worked on a movie :lol:
54. (1TV) Sorority Girl (1957)-Even though I had to watch a Lifetime Channel-movie earlier in the day, this was the film that ended up feeling more "Lifetime" than the previous one did. Thank god it was barely an hour long.

56. (1TV) A Day in the Life (2009)-My "Hood" pick. A fun & refreshing take on a typical shoot-em-up hood flick (All the lines in the movie are spoken in rhyme & rap) Wasn't expecting that at all! Too bad the ending sucked though.
57. (1TV) Supercross:The Movie (2005)-My "Critical Bomb" pick. At just 6% http://i43.tinypic.com/33n9jwy.jpg, I actually didn't think it was that bad. It's so damn short and flies by so fast, you hardly have time to notice the suckiness. At least it wasn't as painful to sit through ala Barb Wire.
58. (1TV) American Psycho II: All American Girl (2002)-My "DirectToVideo sequel" pick. Absolutely terrible. And it could have even been worse if Mila didn't star in it.
59. (1TV) No Retreat, No Surrender (1986)-Ah, so glad to go from a hatefully bad movie to a wonderfully bad one! I'm really surprised that I never got around to check this out during my youth, but good things comes to those who wait!
60. (1TV) Psycho Beach Party (2000)-I was more expecting more horror & raunchy humor (And less gay themes) but at least most of the dialogue and some of the performances made up for that. More Amy Adams wouldn't have hurt either.

62. (1TV) 2019: After the Fall of New York (1983)-Hey! It's the grindhouse version of Children of Men! Almost the same plot! I ended up liking this just enough for it to make it my 2nd favorite Italian-Apocalyptic flick (Right behind New Barbarians)
63. (1TV) The Sinful Nuns of Saint Valentine (1974)-Pretty good storyline. Just slow results. This also seemed to feel like an early nunspoiltation flick---Before things began to get routinely over-the-top.
64. (1TV) Psycho a Go-Go (1965)-Like Axe, this was another one that I've never heard good things about. But at least I found this to be more watchable than Adamson's Blood/Ghastly Horror. lol'd at the "Mommth Lakes" credit at the end.

65. (1TV) Amazonia: The Catherine Miles Story (1985)-This is like the female version of Jungle Holocaust. Interesting touch by having the voiceover being the "court testimony" and the revenge scene towards the end just might be my most favorite sequence I've seen thus far in this challenge! :D
66. (1TV) Night of the Ghouls (1959)-A good concept (By Wood's standards) too bad there was only one scene that I really liked (Seance sequence)
67. (1TV) The Enforcer (1951)-My "Gangster Noir" pick. Obviously a big departure from what I've been previously watching. I admit getting a bit lost in this movie, but any flick that has flashbacks within flashbacks tends to do that.
68. (1TV) Wide Open (1974)-I guess this was a sex-comedy (Despite never laughing and having sex scenes that often ended as soon as they started) BTW, even though Christina Lindberg appears on the many covers of this movie, she's only in about 4 scenes (Two were pretty noteworthy, though)

76. (1TV) A Special Cop in Action (1976)-About 15 minutes too long, but hardly a really dull moment to be found here. You'll recognize some Death Proof music from this.
77. (1TV) Angel Guts:Red p*rno (1981)-I was bummed out earlier by the Boston bombings and felt like giving the movie-viewing a little rest. This wasn't exactly the type of stuff I wanted to see to get me back into a good mood, but at least it was only 1 hour.
78. (1TV) The Champions of Justice (1971)-The 3rd Mexican-Wrestler movie I've seen (The first one I've seen in color, also) I had a zany time with this. I'm now really curious to check out one that has the wrestlers fighting monsters now!

80. (1TV) Inn of the Damned (1975)-Pretty good plot, it's just that (Since the movie is near 2-hours long) the main plot doesn't get going untill the 30-minute mark. Not that bad from then on.
81. (1TV) Requiescant (1967)-Wow. Two spaghetti westerns in a row (For this challenge) that I thought were really good. There's a few more that I had in mind to check out, but I get a feeling that I better quit while I'm ahead.
82. Bruce Lee in New Guinea (1977)-While watching the 2nd half of this, I realized I saw this before (I had previously seen it as a Kung Faux episode) The fights are weak, but this just might be the strangest Bruce Li flick I've seen.
83. (1TV) Bad Girls Dormitory (1986)-I'm always a little hesitant to check out a lot of 80's movies for these challenges. It's mostly because I'm just not a fan of how watered-down and how safe they are compared to films from earlier times. But every once in awhile, I'll run into a something that ends up being a surprising reward. This turned out to be one of those winners.

84. (1TV) Eye of the Tiger (1986)-Mostly By-the-numbers revenge flick. What sets it apart is an explosive climax (Resembling a Missing in Action movie) and excessive use of the title song. Good to finally see William Smith show up for my marathon!
85. (1TV) Dr. Sex (1964)-(The Good) Some hot bods on display! (The Bad) Uhh, everything else...
86. (1TV) Heat (1972)-Since Paul Morrissey's in the safe list, felt like giving this a look. From what I remembered, this film had more of a narrative and had more humor than Flesh or Trash. It's just too bad it doesn't stay as interesting towards the end.
87. (1TV) She Devils of the SS (1973)-With that title, you would think this would involve some sleazy, gruesome nazisploitation. Well, the nazisploitation setting is right, but the movie (For the most part) feels like a light-hearted sex comedy! As far as the "She-Devils" go, they really don't do nothing in this movie but hump the male troops. I think this movie also has the biggest "Huh?!?" ending I've experienced yet, too.

88. (1TV) Teenagers Battle The Thing (1958)-Forgive me for constantly daydreaming while watching this one. It's just that this movie had the most boring "Teenagers" I've ever seen in a movie.
89. (1TV) Seytan (1974)-Even though I watched this without english subtitles (And even though I could understand what was going on since this was a shot-for-shot remake!) it was interesting to see how Islam battles the devil.
90. (1TV) The Stöned Age (1994)-I remember catching bits & pieces of this on cable back in the 90's. It was good to finally see this all the way through. More enjoyable than I always expected......Just needed a bit more weed-smoking than guzzling---Since I chose this as my "Stoner" pick.
91. (1TV) The Yakuza Papers, Vol. 3: Proxy War (1973)-I've only seen 2 of these other Yakuza Papers movies, Deadly Fight/Hiroshima (Which I liked) and Battles/Humanity (Which I had problems with) Unfortunately, this entry falls into the latter. Just way, WAY too many characters to keep track of.
92. (1TV) Honky (1971)-Not only was this one of the most slowest movies I've seen in this marathon, but it also contains one of the worst endings too. Such a shame because this is one of the movies that I was looking most forward to seeing in this challenge.

I hope to find a few more flicks with her by the end of this challenge.

98. (1TV) Assignment: Outer Space (1960)-Well, I watched this whole thing but I wasn't sure what the heck it was about. Kinda like Apollo 13 done Margheretti style....But not as charming as his other spaceman flicks.
99. (1TV) Hells Angels Forever (1983)-Not as comprehensive as the documentary as I was expecting (History channel has aired a few better docs on the subject) Still worth checking out for the time capsule though.
100. (1TV) New York Nights (1984)-Just a bunch of sex tales connected together. Only the first 3 or 4 seemed the most interesting (It helped out that one of them had a women's wrestling match...In lingerie!)
101. (1TV) Superchick (1973)-"Superho" was more like it. Not a very good film at all, but compared to a lot of Crown crap I've had to endure throughout the years, this one seemed to have something interesting going for it.
102. (1TV) Rabid Grannies (1988)-I used to always think this was some redneck, trailer-trash type flick (Not quite!) Pretty good gore gags/fx, humor and fright bits throughout. I just think I would've liked the movie more if it was about 10 minutes shorter.
103. (1TV) The Man from Hong Kong (1975)-So glad to have finally seen this. Though some of the action sequences went on a wee bit long, I still gladly welcomed the excess :D Contains (Undoubtedly) the best car chase I've seen all month long.

105. (1TV) The Impossible Kid of Kung Fu (1982)-Aside from the incredibly annoying theme music, I liked this WAY more than For Y'ur Height Only. The entire karate-school scene was epic!
106. (1TV) The Resurrected (1991)-Interesting idea (And some good FX here and there) It just felt too long.
107. (1TV) A Black Veil for Lisa (1968)-Another one that I wasn't too thrilled with. And yet another version that contains scenes where the characters suddenly speak their lines in Italian without english subs. At least Lucianna looked foxy as always.
108. (1TV) Too Hot to Handle (1977)-The original Samantha Fox? As far as comparing this to other films involving the Schain/Caffaro duo, I'd put this movie in 2nd place (Right after The Abductors)
109. (1TV) Hanna D.: The Girl from Vondel Park (1984)-For some reason, I always thought this was a female vigilante flick (Dead wrong) Very downbeat and icky film (I'm still gagging over one certain shot) but I still thought it was one of the better films I've seen this month, however.

112. (1TV) Luther the Geek (1990)-An interesting start, but then it just goes the long cat & mouse route. I did like the ending though....For some reason.
113. (1TV) Killers from Space (1954)-Despite not being a huge winner, this was certainly more intelligent than advertised.
114. (1TV) Moorunners (1975)-The genesis of Dukes of Hazzard. There's a lot going on in this movie. It just doesn't always run as smooth as it should.
115. (1TV) The Sin of Nora Moran (1933)-This appears in 1 of my books on exploitation film, so I'm sure it's safe. The narrative is oddly structured (Definetly revolutionary for it's time) and it's so nice to finally see Zita Johan in something else (Most fans only know her for The Mummy)
116. (1TV) Kaidan hebi-onna (Snake Woman's Curse) (1968)-Disappointment. A pretty cool finale but it took an awful long time for a "Curse" to start happening.
117. (1TV) Eugenie... the Story of Her Journey Into Perversion (1970)-My first Marie Liljedahl film (Such a cutie!) and wasn't let down one bit. Another favorite of this challenge.

118. (1TV) Jacktown (1962)-Aside from the silly ending, this felt like one of the harder-edged "Delinquent" movies. Did Rod Serling do the narration? I kept on expecting to see him suddenly face the camera and start talking to us!
119. (1TV) American Kickboxer (1991)-Might have to give it some thought, but I think this just might be the worst movie I've seen yet.
120. (1TV) Revenge of the Virgins (1959)-This could have even been much worse if it weren't for one obvious reason.
121. (1TV) Shocking Asia II: The Last Taboos (1985)-Too long. Got very restless after the leper colony segment (They even had enough nerve to throw in the shark scene from Mondo Cane) At least there was barely any man-on-animal violence to be seen here.
122. (1TV) Sorceress (1982)-Some of it's fun but most of it is very bad. At least I finally got to complete Jack Hill's filmography with this one.
123. (1TV) The Crimson Kimono (1959)-Since Sam Fuller's in the safe list, I felt like giving this one a look. I was pleased to find out that end it ended up in the upper tier of my Fuller-viewed films. Quite solid noir.
124. (1TV) The Coming of Sin (1978)-I saw this under the very suggestive title of Violation of the Bitch. Needless to say, I was expecting something very sleazy & repulsive. Instead this was just mostly tame erotica...At least the unforgettable poster-image (Involving a horse) made it into the movie.

(1TV) The Bod Squad (1974) (aka Virgins of the Seven Seas)-I had meant to save this one towards the end of the month, but since I had a (Mostly) un-satisfactory day, I decided to finish off the night with this one.....And it did NOT let me down one bit! 129. (1TV) Love Me Deadly (1973)-The eye-opening moments are far and few between, but this still managed to be one of the most demented films I've encountered this month.

130. (1TV) Bloody Monkey Master (1981)-The original Iron Monkey. I lost interest in this half-way through. Kuan Tai Chen is a pretty good actor/fighter, but he had a bland monkey style.
131. (1TV) Mortuary (1983)-Seemed to get off to an okay start. Then everything just became shallow & predictable (Not to mention, an awful job done on the "Jump-scares") At least it was nice seeing Linda Day George again. She's like Heather Graham's hot mother!
132. (1TV) Pagan Island (1961) (From the Something Weird double feature) This seemed to end before I knew it. At least it's worth checking out just for the constant wardrobe-malfunctions.
133. (1TV) The Fiend of Dope Island (1961)-More dialogue,plot and action than what was seen in the previous film. It's just that I much perferred the silly charm of Pagan Island
134. (1TV) Caged Island Women (1980)-Take away the sex and constant T&A and you've really got...Nothing here. But uuhh, what really helps elevate this thing is Brigitte Lahaie. And maybe it's because I haven't seen her in a movie in awhile, but (Good God) she was just an absolutely unbelievable creation :drool: x10.

(1TV) Video Nasties: Moral Panic, Censorship & Videotape (2010)-While it was very interesting to hear more about the expose and court stories concerning the subject, this still felt too much like a lengthy "Talking-Heads" featurette. I just would've loved to have heard more of the films themselves (Well-handled in the bookends of this documentary)

137. (1TV) The Snow Bunnies (1972)-I heard that all this is is skiing stock-footage mixed in with sex scenes and that's completely right. But this gets points from me for including Marsha Jordan & Sandy Carey. Plus this was WAY more watchable than my last Apostolof-viewed film set in the snow, Hot Ice.
138. (1TV) Cry of a Prostitute (1974)-Even though the prostitute(s) doesn't really have anything to do with the story, I still ended up liking this. A couple of brutal, bloody moments that I don't normally see in other poliziotteschi flicks.
139. (1TV) Satan's Cheerleaders (1977)-Man, Greydon Clark & PG-ratings just don't blend too well. At least I liked those cheesy disco songs.
140. (1TV) Teenage Bride (1975)-Nothing much to say here except, "Gyadamn! That was the longest sex scene I've ever witnessed!" 19-minutes, to be exact! Oh, BTW, I didn't spot any "Teenage Brides" here (Thankfully)
141. (1TV) Mega Piranha (2010)-Good God. No comment.
142. (1TV) Mr. Hercules Against Karate (1973)-I was battling marathon fatigue while watching this one. The guy that played Hercules (Or Perceval, as said in the film) kept on reminding me of Kevin Kline :lol:

143. (1TV) Hard Sensation (1980)-Well, I'd say that this would be my 2nd favorite of those D'amato/Shannon/Eastman/Ramirez-Island hardcore movies (1st would be Sesso Nero)
144. (1TV) Rape! 13th Hour (1977)-This just might be the most ickiest thing I've seen yet. But at the same time, it was also oddly compelling.
145. (1TV) Android (1982)-Aside from the awful acting done by the fugitives, I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this. That sequence with James Brown's "This is a Man's World" playing to scenes from Metropolis was pure genius.
146. (1TV) Black Eye (1974)-Blaxploitation noir. From most of the reviews I've read, this was always said to be one of the more highly-acclaimed films in the genre. But I just thought this was....Mediocre. Then again, I've just never been a big noir lover to begin with.
147. (1TV) 2020 Texas Gladiators (1984)-A promising start, but then things got strange, confusing and silly. I must say that (Visually) this was was certainly one of the interesting-looking movies I encountered this month :lol:
148. (1TV) Zeta One (1969)-It looked like there was some fun going on during the last half of this movie. Too bad it was an absolute chore trying to get there.

149. (1TV) The Body (1974)-Typical deceit type of flick. The only thing worth checking out about it is Zeudi Araya, who was like a predecessor to Laura Gemser.
150. (1TV) Death Promise (1977)-It's got a first half that drags a bit. But once we get into revenge mode, we're in for a fun ride!
151. (1TV) Savages from Hell (1968)-So-so Florida biker flick. Never knew Sidney Poitier had an older brother who did some acting!
152. (1TV) The Big Snatch (1971)-Well, if you go into this one thinking that you're watching the first roughie/soft-core movie ever made, then you should be in fine hands. And as generic as this was, I can honestly say that I was never bored once.
153. (1TV) Hercules Against the Moon Men (1964)-ZZzzz. Should've watched the MST3K version.
154. (1TV) Jail Bait (1954)-Wow. I wasn't prepared for that minstrel interlude. Plus, the return of the head-splitting Mesa of Lost Women soundtrack!

155. (1TV) Dear God No! (2011)-MUCH better than I thought it would be. Even though today's exploitation-homages seem to always go way over-the-top (ala Hobo/Shotgun) the humor here worked out incredibly well.
156. (1TV) The Cave of the Silken Web (1967)-All I can say is thank goodness for those couple of martial arts sequences otherwise this might've been the most painful thing I would've sat through this month.
157. (1TV) Daddy's Deadly Darling (1972)-Ehh, it was tough to fully grasp this thanks to the dark picture and the crazy editing. This movie did have some cool sound effects though.
158. (1TV) Firecracker (1981)-I kept on hearing that this was the "Blonde" version of TNT Jackson. And while there were some similarities here and there, I was expecting an exact carbon copy. Nice touch by having tracks from the Shogun Assassin sndtrk....And there were a couple of moments when I thought the leading actress was Bridget Fonda!
159. (1TV) Paradise, Hawaiian Style (1966)-I decided to go for the bonus entry with a Elvis pick! Since I heard this one was one of the worst, I assumed it was a safe bet. It turns out, I've actually seen worse ones than this (Harum Scare'um and Clambake come to mind) but this is still near the bottom of the barrel.
160. (1TV) The Perverse Countess (1974)-Franco's version of Most Dangerous Game certainly looks the way you would envision it to be. I watched quite a few of Jess's films this month (R.I.P, once again) and I felt like I had went out on a good note here. This was also the cutest I've ever seen Lina Romay look too.

161. (1TV) Drop Out Wife (1972)-Whoa. I found a softcore flick that was harder than Teenage Bride!
162. (1TV) Barbarian Queen (1985)-Saved by the nudity and short-running time!
163. (1TV) Girl Boss: Crazy Ball Game (1974)-Ah, so nice to revisit the Pinky Violence genre. Gang battles, kinky comedy and a dash of brutality. One thing I really liked about this one was that the opposing girl-gang leader was given more dimension.
164. Fist of Fury (1972)-My Bonus Bruce pick. I haven't seen this one in a while and watched it with the Bey Logan commentary. A good track (As always expected from him) it's just that the audio from the movie is almost as loud as the commentary.
165. (1TV) Pervert! (2005)-I wasn't as crazy about this, but had I not known about Russ Meyer's work, I'm sure I would've been more hostile towards this.
166. (1TV) The Great American Girl Robbery (1979)-Decent stuff. I expected a lot more.
167. (1TV) 'Necromania': A Tale of Weird Love! (1971)-Somewhat of a fitting end to this marathon!

April 1
1. The Last Flight of Noah's Ark (1980) I hasten to call it a movie because it's from a major studio (Walt Disney) but seeing as how this a relatively minor film in their filmography I include it here. Geneviève Bujold stars as a missionary who wants to set up a farm in a remote place, she enlists the aid of pilot Elliot Gould (who's presence alone makes this a B movie) and together they along with some animals and two stowaway kids fly an old B-29 bomber to their destination. After a forced landing they arrive at an island inhabited by two Japanese soldiers from WWII who don't know the war is over. Hilarity and adventure ensues as they transform their fallen plane into a boat to get off the island. G rated fun.

April 2
2. The Spirit of '76 (1990) If you grew up in the 70's (and I did) this movie is pure gold. Just the cameos alone make it worth watching - Iron Eyes Cody, Barbara Bain, Tommy Chong, the list goes on. As well as the main stars - David Cassidy and Leif Garret who were 70's teen idols. They're joined by the lovely Olivia D'abo in this comedy about people from the future who want to rebuild their world with the ideas of the Founding Fathers from 1776. However, their faulty time machine takes them to 1976. The the 70's is a decade that doesn't need to be parodied, just presenting it as it was is hilarious.

3. The Warriors (1979) A cult classic among cult classics. I could watch this film over and over and not get tired. Almost the whole dialogue is quotable. Just a fantastic movie that just gets better with age.

4. The Warrior and the Sorceress (1979) A fantasy film that plays more like a Western with David Carradine as a lone swordsman that comes into a town where two warlords battle for control of a well. Styrofoam sets, a ludicrous plot and plenty of nudity including the lovely Maria Socas who is topless the entire movie and a dance number by a girl with four breasts make this one a keeper.

5. The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (2007) Totally bland origin story to how the Duke boys got together which makes no sense since it's set in modern times and is totally out of sync with both the TV series and the atrocious "re-imagined" movie. Every character is a caricature of themselves and even Daisy Duke is miscast with a way too thin and bland actress with no charisma. A wasted opportunity

6. Sahara* (1983) I hasten to call this a B-movie since it's supposed to have had a 25 million dollar budget which was a massive amount for 1983, but this Golan-Globus production distributed by Canon films (from the studio safe list) is pure B-movie fun. Brooke Shields stars as a race car driver in the 1920's (yes, you read that right) who travels to the Saharan desert to participate in a rally. While there she gets captured by a local tribe leader who wants her for his harem. Considered a box office bomb this is nonetheless a fun movie to watch with plenty of adventure as well as the absolutely stunning Shields who is just a joy to look at.

7. Wet Gold* (1984) Another Brooke Shields vehicle. This time she's a waitress who's on the hunt for sunken treasure with the aid of Burgess Meredith who plays a drunkard who claims to know the location of a sunken boat loaded with gold. Entertaining, plus there's plenty of scenes of Shields in a bathing suit.
8. Shadow of Fear* (2012) Made for TV movie about a young woman working in a coffee shop that is stalked by a mentally ill man. Based on true events, but that didn't make it any more exciting.
9. Santo y Blue Demon Contra Las Bestias del Terror (1973) Santo and Blue Demon investigate the disappearance of a young woman kidnapped by a mad scientist who wants to turn women into zombies. The milf-tastic Norma Lazareno stars in a miniskirt throughout the entire movie.

10. Thrashin'* (1986) Before they were famous: Josh Brolin, Sherylin Fenn and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. 80's skateboard movie that's just an excuse for several music video type montages of skateboard scenes. It all culminates in a big skateboard competition, of course.

12. Emmanuelle Through Time: Emmanuelle's Supernatural Sexual Activity* (2011) Allie Haze is the erotic icon this time around. The nonsensical plot parodies Paranormal Activity somewhat.

13. House of the Rising Sun* (2011) Vehicle for WWE wrestler Batista (Here billed as Dave Bautista, his real name). Standard cop/action movie with Bautista as an ex-cop who must find the ones who robbed a mob-run casino he was working for. Rented it because it also stars Amy Smart who really livens up any movie she's in.
14. The Girl Most Likely To...* (1973) Stockard Channing stars in this dark comedy as an ugly girl who gets plastic surgery and becomes beautiful. Then she gets revenge on all those who mocked her.

15. Staying Alive* (1983) Almost forgotten sequel to Saturday Night Fever with virtually no plot, the whole thing is just a build up for the grand dance finale. Discotheque dancing is traded for Broadway show style musical numbers and it's not an improvement.

16. Atacan Las Brujas (1968) Mexican wrestler Santo vs sexy witches in miniskirts!

17. Game of Death (1978) Bruce Lee's last film released long after his death with the aid of a double who appears in most of the scenes. Just so-so. Only of interest for the movie's end where the real Lee appears in a fight with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

18. Deep Throat* (1972) Classic 70's p*rn - no need to say more.
19. Six Pack (1982) Kenny Rogers as a down on his luck race car driver who runs into a group of orphans that steal his car's parts. He later befriends them and they become his pit crew which calls his "Six Pack". Fun movie with a very young Diane Lane and and even younger Anthony Michael Hall.

20. Almost Hollywood* (1994) A B-movie about B-movies. Playboy Playmate India Allen stars and produces this direct to DVD movie about the sordid behind the scenes goings-on of the softcore (or "erotic thriller", as the characters like to say) industry. There's also a murder plot, but it's so boring as to be incidental. The real interesting parts are when the characters talk about how they feel about making low budget trash. Most of it is very tongue in cheek but there's some good stuff there. Sadly, Miss Allen's fantastic breasts are only seen nude in a very brief scene.

21. Debbie Does Dallas (1978) More classic p*rn from the 70's. This one's A lot more entertaining than Deep Throat.
22. Corvette Summer (1978) Fresh from Star Wars, Mark Hamill did this movie about a high schooler who builds a souped up Corvette in auto shop. The 'Vette gets stolen and trying to recover it is the main plot of the movie. Along the way he meets up with a prostitute (Annie Potts) driving a custom van who gives him a ride to Vegas where he believes the car is. The title of the movie is a bit misleading since the Corvette in question gets very little screen time but still, an entertaining movie.

23. Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) A cult classic if there ever was one. I'd like to go on record in saying that Cynthia Myers' breasts are reason enough to see this movie.
24. The Lost Continent (1968) Very unusual Seven Arts/Hammer Films production about a group of people aboard a cargo ship that get stranded in a sea of deadly seaweed. The first hour is rather drawn out with the story focusing on the passengers with shady pasts and a cargo full of deadly explosives that will go off if they get wet. Then things take a turn for the weird as they encounter a lost commune of people descendant from Spanish explorers who are ruled by a mad child-king. There's also giant creatures and the aforementioned deadly seaweed that kills and eats anyone entangled by it. The buxom Dana Gillespie, who we would later ogle at in The People that Time Forgot, stars as one of the oppressed people of the commune.

25. Taboo (1980) The Queen of all MILF's, Kay Parker, stars in this incestuous tale of motherly love.

1. March 31: American Grindhouse 2010, NR, Netflix Streaming
Decent doc about the growth of grindhouse films. I love John Landis and any chance to hear him talk about schlock cinema is a good time. this is a great starting point for anyone that needs to brush up on the basics of the challenge.

2. April 1: Zeta One 1969, R, Netflix Streaming
UK 70's sploitation with lots of boobs but ultimately remains boring. beautiful aliens need new beautiful women to repopulate their planet, kidnapping ensues. opening strip poker scene drags on for ever.

3. April 1: Barbarella 1968, NR, Netfliz Streaming
psychedelic space trash. this is some bizarre stuff, stingray drawn sleds mechanical children and sex machines. you really can't go wrong.

4. April 2: The Human Tornado AKA: Dolemite 2 1976, R, Netflix Streaming
"Goddamn! Torture Chamers. I aint heard sh*t like that in years"
this only exists to make Dolemite look like the Citizen Kane of Blaxploitation movies. nonsensical, erratic mess of edits and concert footage of terrible stand-up, sh*tty kung-fu and overdubbing masterwork. favorite scenes include: hallucinatory avante garde sex nightmare of blackmen rising out of toy boxes and flexing there muscles towards a girl in a nightgown. Quickly followed up by a sex scene that literally destroys a house. i'm not making this up. it is going to be hard to erase a naked Rudy Ray Moore from my memory.

5. April 3: Switchblade Sisters 1975, R, Netflix Streaming
"So easy to kill, So hard to love"
i liked this. the struggle for the control of a girl gang. don't mess with these chics. there are good knife fights, obviously, and a great juvanile detention fight. there is also a great sublot involving the one eyed second in command of the jezebels vying for the affections of the gang leader.

Starting The William Castle Film Collection
1. 13 Frightened Girls - An American diplomat's teenage daughter plays spy. It almost seems like a 60's era live action Disney film with the preposterous plot, the jaunty musical soundtrack and the camp/comedy bits. The William Castle gimmick for this film seems kind of tacked on and doesn't directly interact with the movie: a card, when moistened, may or may not reveal the word Danger. If you get a Danger card, you get to claim a prize from the theater. Maybe some theaters didn't want to mess with the gimmicks and this made it optional.

2. 13 Ghosts - Could this be the first occurrence of the "inherited haunted mansion" cliche? The Castle gimmick for this one is Illusion-O, a card with red and blue filters which would make the ghosts "appear" or disappear. Actually, the ghosts can be seen without any filter, but the red filter does make them more visible. The thing that kept nagging me was that the parents of the family were easily in their 50's, but they had a 20-ish daughter and a 10 year old son. Features Mark Milner and Margaret Hamilton as a "witchy" housekeeper.

3. Homicidal - "This is the Fright Break!" - a 45 second countdown clock that allowed movie patrons to leave near the climax of the film. At first, audiences exploited this gimmick by staying for a second screening and leaving during that one. Castle responded by requiring different color tickets for each showing and adding the "Coward's Corner", where the patron had to wait until after the film finished and the rest of the audience filed by. This film really shows Castle's desire to be an American Hitchco*ck, with several emulations from Psycho. Kudos to Castle though, for having the secret hiding in plain sight.

4. Strait-Jacket - No cheap gimmicks with this one, but it does have the draw power of (fading) star Joan Crawford. Interesting extras on this DVD, detailing the control that Crawford had on this movie and the parallels between the movie's story and Joan's own personal story. Before They Were Famous sighting for an non-credited Lee Majors and an early cinematic appearance of George Kennedy.

5. Dr. Who and the Daleks, 6. Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 AD - The Daleks are obviously the draw of these two adaptions of the Doctor Who TV series.
