World Wildlife Day (WWD) is a United Nations international holiday that takes place every year on March 3 to celebrate the world's wild animals and plants. This date is the birthday of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which was signed in 1973. Every year, WWD is hosted by the CITES Secretariat. People around the world join this annual awareness-raising campaign and organize events, such as education programmes, youth symposiums and classroom exhibitions.
